Fiberglass bathtubs require paint that can withstand repeated exposure to water and humidity. Additionally, they require a high-strength epoxy coating to protect the paint from water. A few brands make appropriate paints, some in spray cans.

However, kits are the best choice because they come with everything you need (with instructions) to ensure a durable finish. These kits may require mixing the paint with a hardener that gives it the strength to withstand repeated water exposure. 

First off, take a breath. The good news is that interior paint, especially when used outside, won’t harm your health. If you’ve already installed your carpet and your baseboards need a fresh coat, painter’s tape can help ensure the paint stays on the wall and off the flooring. Be sure to add a margin of 2 to 3 inches of tape along the carpet to give yourself extra space for any unexpected spills or drips. You should also lay down a plastic tarp and secure it as close to the wall as possible with painter’s tape.
