The service guy was on time and advised us that ADT was only allowed to offer their smoke detectors as backups, and since I didn't have any he could not install them as primaries.  No charge for this advice.  He explained how to disconnect the intimidating looking wires (which had motivated my request for this service), so I was able to do it after all!  No charge!

It was horrible. There were additional costs that I was told to pay because they hadn’t resolved the work. This is because the salesman told me there was no free installation offer, which was a lie. I would say they use false advertising, are deceptive and I believe that they intentionally ran out the bill. They created problems where there weren’t. We are completely satisfied. With regard to price, it's a monthly thing. They were very responsive. They definitely took their time and made sure that the service was as personalized as possible. They were very friendly. They were very thorough. They are overly responsive, which is good when I have them for security. With security service, I think that's a good trait to have. I am very happy with them.

First we got the installation - they replaced a local alarm system with their own boxes on our sensors. 
The installation was prompt and seemed ok.  Thankfully we never really had to interact with them.  The first time we called for help was on a low battery signal - they were minimally helpful in assisting me. But I downloaded a manual and got that done.  Then we had the system upgraded to wireless with an associated increase in monthly price.
The experience when truly negative when we tried to end the contract after selling our place.  We had used them for 4 years after a three year initial contract.  However they insisted the contract was not up and wanted $700 to end the service!!! We called multiple times to clarifiy with multiple 'dropped calls' and general run around.  Finally we went to the local ADT office - there is NO local office. There is nobody you can speak to in person. NOBODY. NOBODY. And the national service line would just hang up on you when they don't like what you are saying but insist that a $700 bill is coming in the mail.
Eventually, a call center rep insisted that we were still under contract because when we got the wireless upgrade (which we paid hundreds + increased monthly cost for) our contract was extended for another 3 years. Luckly, we save all our reciepts and had hard proof that this NEVER happened. IT clearly stated the contract was not extened. So a few more phone calls later, we finally got the service ended.  We were good customers for almost 5 years (60monthsX$40 + hardware fees = $2400). And then they tried to create a fake contract to rob of of money in the end.  Then had the gall to ask for our new address for installation there.  Very toxic interaction - I have no idea how poor the response would have been if we actually needed them.

We have been happy with ADT for some time now. However we were wanting to change out our motion sensor as our dog keeps tripping it. They told us that we are in a phone only area. This means we can tell them over the phone what we want, and no one will come to the home to do an evaluation. Today I was interested in upgrading some equipment, and was told that they would charge an additional $200 just to show up at the door.
Overall we have been happy with the system, but first check and see if you are in a phone only area, as repairs or upgrades will cost you dearly. When my contract is up, we will most likely change to a different copany to get the features we are looking for.

He did an excellent job.  He was knowledgeable and knew what he was doing.  He drilled a hole in the wall to install the system.  Other companies used a peeling stick to install it and I just trusted him.  He was very professional.  He cleaned up after himself.  I was supposed to buy more than what I needed.  I appreciated him when he told me what was vulnerable and not vulnerable.  He was honest enough to tell me not to spend the money on things that I don't need.  He even told me that the outside detector is  in a wrong place.  I haven't tested the system yet so I don't know if it works or not.  I just don't have a chance to do it since I work a lot.  I will recommend him to my family and friends.

They did not charge me for the phone call. They are very efficient and I like them. Their prices are fine and I don’t know what other people charge, so I can’t make a comparison. I wouldn’t keep them if they were not excellent and they respond very fast.

The technician arrived ahead of schedule, after calling to ensure it was okay. He was thorough and professional. He did an excellent job of explaining the system and did not attempt to sell me other features. I was very pleased and did not have any complaints.

The bottem line is that ADT was not able to provide even minimal service for a week and a half. Basically we were told to "deal with it" until they show up Sept 1st. We could pry open the box (and may or may not suffer the expense) and be without any security at all or wait and see what the alarm does on it's own. And, at some point the battery will die.

They were okay.  They are just a basic alarm company.  If the alarm goes off, they report it to the police.  The equipment is okay, and the installation was alright.  You can get a free basic system, but you have to sign on for three years, which is the only part about them that I'm not really enamored about.  There isn't much competition in the field, but lately, I've seen some better offers.  We couldn't find anything better at the time.  After we use this company, we'll look for some better bids.

I called ADT in April of 2010 to inquire about installing an entry system for a four unit apartment building. The person I spoke to scheduled a date to send a representative to my building to discuss the entry system. When the representative arrived, he had no information about the entry system. In fact, he was a sales person for alarm systems and he knew NOTHING about building entry systems. The entry systems are handled by a completely different division. I went ahead and signed an agreement for an alarm system. The representative said that he would contact me, or have someone contact me on the following Monday regarding the entry system. I have not heard from him since the date that I signed the contract for the alarm system. Subsequently, I called ADT to find out information about an entry system. Again, a representative said that she would have someone call. I did receive a call. In addition, I spoke to the service representative who installed my alarm system regarding the situation. Once again, he said that he would pass this information along and have someone call me. I have yet to receive any information on the entry system. I think that the ADT representatives are only concerned about generating sales so that they can make commision. They have no concern about fulfilling the customer's needs. I was not interested in an alarm system, I was interested in an entry system to a building. They were interested in selling me something that I did not need. I can't wait to cut ties with ADT. I would recommend going with a smaller alarm company that will give you the information that you ask for.

I didn't have the alarm set up with the city, luckily because you are charged for false alarms. Since, I've unplugged the system. I had called the sales man after the system was installed but he never returned my call. I had asked him about a device to see if it was digital and he never answered my question. The price indicated is my cancellation fee.

I love ADT! I bought a house in the city in an area that you definitely need an alarm. I have had almost no issues at all. They have always been very quick to come out to fix anything that has come up. In fact, last year they upgraded my back-up system for no charge. I feel very confident with an ADT system in my house. Not soon after I moved in, I wanted to re-configure my system due to a pet. They were more than willing to add/change they way I had the system set up. I did spend some more money but it was worth it!

The installer arrived on time and installed the full system in about 8 hours. He was very careful, but still managed to punch a few holes in walls where they were not needed. He patched the holes and I repainted the areas myself. My impression is that he was not as experienced as I would have liked him to be. The system works as expected and the monitoring is top notch - typical of ADT.

I think they are a very professional, reputable company. I trust them to protect our home. I am happy with their overall service. The alarm has been set off accidentally a few times and they have always responded very quick. I think their prices are fairly inexpensive.
