The installation was prompt and seemed ok. Thankfully we never really had to interact with them. The first time we called for help was on a low battery signal - they were minimally helpful in assisting me. But I downloaded a manual and got that done. Then we had the system upgraded to wireless with an associated increase in monthly price.
The experience when truly negative when we tried to end the contract after selling our place. We had used them for 4 years after a three year initial contract. However they insisted the contract was not up and wanted $700 to end the service!!! We called multiple times to clarifiy with multiple 'dropped calls' and general run around. Finally we went to the local ADT office - there is NO local office. There is nobody you can speak to in person. NOBODY. NOBODY. And the national service line would just hang up on you when they don't like what you are saying but insist that a $700 bill is coming in the mail.
Eventually, a call center rep insisted that we were still under contract because when we got the wireless upgrade (which we paid hundreds + increased monthly cost for) our contract was extended for another 3 years. Luckly, we save all our reciepts and had hard proof that this NEVER happened. IT clearly stated the contract was not extened. So a few more phone calls later, we finally got the service ended. We were good customers for almost 5 years (60monthsX$40 + hardware fees = $2400). And then they tried to create a fake contract to rob of of money in the end. Then had the gall to ask for our new address for installation there. Very toxic interaction - I have no idea how poor the response would have been if we actually needed them.
Overall we have been happy with the system, but first check and see if you are in a phone only area, as repairs or upgrades will cost you dearly. When my contract is up, we will most likely change to a different copany to get the features we are looking for.
