"The technician Tim was very disrespectful and rude. the other technician made up for it by being helpful and answering my questions. They waisted 20 minutes complaining because we were added after a cancellation. They also left a hose outside my home. We were prepared to tip them for coming at the last moment but Tim talked himself out of the tip. I am still evaluating the actual service (vent and air duct cleaning), but it appears to be ok although it took half the time we were told it would and he turned off my heating unit without notifying me. As you can see, I cant recommend them right now."

Air Duct Cleaning FAQs, answered by experts

You should plan to change your AC unit's filter every one to three months, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations. You should also clean the coils at least once per year, but if you have pets or someone in your household has allergies, you might need to clean them more often. Fortunately, many pros will clean the coils and change the filter for you during an inspection, which you should schedule once or twice per year.

The only immediate step you need to take after the air duct cleaning finishes is changing your furnace filter. It’s likely to accumulate some dust and debris during the cleaning process. There’s no need to replace the filter before the cleaning starts, as a dirty air filter won’t affect the cleaning process. Regularly replacing your air filter is one of the best steps you can take to keep your air ducts clean in the months after a pro cleans them. The pro should clean up any mess left behind and reattach all the grates.

At a minimum, an HVAC system should be serviced once per year. However, a twice-a-year service schedule—once in the spring for the cooling system and once in the fall for the heating system—is often recommended, especially for older systems, heat pumps, or in climates with extreme temperatures. Regular service, which includes inspection, cleaning, and maintenance, ensures the system runs efficiently, helps prevent costly breakdowns during peak seasons, and can extend the unit's lifespan. You can also schedule a service if you notice issues like poor performance or strange noises.

The frequency for cleaning air vents can vary. As a general guideline, you should inspect and clean your return air vents at least once a year, while a more thorough cleaning of all vents is recommended every two to five years. However, you should clean them more frequently if you notice a significant buildup of dust or debris on the vents, see mold growth, find signs of a pest infestation, or notice an unusual amount of dust accumulating on your furniture. More frequent cleaning may also be necessary to maintain good indoor air quality if household members have allergies.

Condensation forms when warmer, outside air combines with cooler air in your ductwork. This can happen when there are leaks in your air ducts, your HVAC system has a dirty air filter, or there’s a lack of insulation around the ducts. To prevent it from happening, replace your HVAC filters as directed. Also, once every five years, hire a local air duct cleaner to clean and inspect them.
