"Josh was fast and answering my messages, gave me a quote over the phone and scheduled a visit for the next day! He showed up at the planned time ready to go! His work was awesome, well worth the reasonable amount of the quote. He even went above and beyond to power was the roof of our carport! I would 100% hire Josh to do any work I need around my house!"

Small jobs welcome

I’ve been working under a general contractor for a handful of years now. I do all the labor for him. I’ve remodeled many master bathrooms, many decks, converted a large garage into a master suite, and many other odd jobs. I’ve done all the tiling, carpentry, drywalling, painting, and installations on every job I’ve been apart of and am ready to get out and start my own projects.

"Finally great to have an exceptional drywall and painting contractor in the Wilmington area. Perfect job. Looks like the water damage never happened. Called on Thursday and they showed up on Monday and finished Tuesday. Definitely should use Ramon. Great guy and great company. Quality work."

Small jobs welcome

"If anyone is still searching for a professional, honest and reliable company that handles cabinets, carpentry, doors, drywall, painting, siding, windows, etc., we highly recommend CJ Construction. Cody and his team are unbelievable! On 3/29/19, Cody came to our house to give us a quote on the installation of baseboards, quarter-round molding, interior doors, kitchen flooring and a screen door. We accepted his quote which we felt was very reasonable. After requiring only a minimal deposit for a special order interior door, he assembled all of the necessary materials and returned yesterday to start the work. By the end of the day, most of the work had been completed. He and his crew returned today and completed the remainder of the work. His work ethic, professionalism and workmanship are unbelievable! He does not cut corners, and he is very detail-oriented and conscientious about his work. We only wish we had found him sooner. He would have spared us a lot of grief and loss of money to an unscrupulous so-called contractor in the early stages of our renovation."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You should not leave drywall outside, especially overnight or in a wet, humid climate. Exposure to rain and humidity can damage the drywall, weakening its structural integrity and making it susceptible to mold growth. If you must leave drywall outside during a project, be sure to cover it with a tarp or keep it inside a storage shed to protect it. Even drywall intended for exterior projects requires a protective moisture barrier. For best results, store any extra drywall in a dry area away from the elements.

A nail in drywall cannot hold very much—usually only a few pounds. A nail in a stud can add support and hold around 20 pounds. If you are trying to hang something heavier, get some help from drywall anchors—toggle bolts are very strong and able to withstand more weight.

While certain types of textured walls can seem dated (looking at you, popcorn), textured walls are a common sight in both older and more modern homes. The main reason textured walls may be here to stay is that they are an excellent way to hide minor imperfections on a wall and give it a finished appearance. Some homeowners think a coat of paint on drywall is a bit industrial-looking. However, that look works perfectly in modern home design

Whether you need drywall anchors depends on your specific project, particularly where you are hanging an item. Drywall anchors are not necessary if you can drive a screw directly into a wooden stud behind the wall, as the stud provides sufficient support. However, since studs are not present everywhere in a wall, you will need to use drywall anchors if you are hanging an object in a location without a stud. For very lightweight items, picture hanging strips can also be a suitable alternative.

Textured walls can increase the value of your home if the style is modern and seen as a desirable feature and not something a prospective buyer would need to remedy. A good example of this is popcorn texture versus Venetian plaster. The plaster wall would add value to your home, whereas the popcorn texture may be something a new buyer would want to remove.
