"These folks are very professional. Chris knows the answers to every question we had. He gave an excellent and very thorough presentation of the Rain Soft water softening system. Meanwhile, Andrea was always on top of things with every email I sent. She or Chris responded almost immediately with answers to our questions. Installation was done professionally and they explained all we needed to know about operation and maintenance of the unit. I would definitely recommend using Aquasani if you are looking for a good quality company."

"The Plumbers Plumber did an excellent job putting in a custom shower for me in my basement. It took 2 days, the finished product is perfect, and the price was definitely doable. "Our new water softener which is a Fleck SXT made our water soft but it stunk terrible. We couldnâ t stand it. It made me nauseated. We could not get the help from the company we purchased the system through. The only way they could help was for us to buy another $600 filter to add on to our water softener. The water guys tested our water. It was soft. They recommended for us to clean out our hot water heater and take out the anode rode. We did this which my husband said was easy. Now our water is absolutely wonderful. Soft. No smell such an easy way to fix a horrible problem. These guys were so nice. Did not charge us for the test of the water and the great advise which worked perfectly. . Would recommend them highly. They saved us hundreds of dollars from what the company wanted us to do. Thank you water guys. Hire these guys. They are so nice very knowledgeable and they donâ t take advantage of you with price. I am so glad we found you. Thank you so much. Evelyn in Strafford."

"Duraplex specializes in moisture protection - primarily foundations and roofs. But, Travas also does related work and was always focused on customer satisfaction. If he knows how to fix something, he will help you. If he doesn't, he will help you find a referral. Travas is thorough in his work and a nice person to do business with. I would recommend his company to anyone who needs help with foundation or roofing needs."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Generally, it is safe to bathe in yellow water, as the color is often caused by iron, tannins, or rust, which won't harm your skin. Soap will still clean you effectively, though the water might leave stains. However, if the water has an unusual smell or you suspect contamination, avoid bathing and contact a plumber for an inspection. A professional can also help if you find bathing in yellow water problematic and want to determine how to get your water clear again.

Installing a water softener could help reduce calcium buildup in your pool if your pool has high calcium hardness as a result of hard drinking water in your home. Pool softeners work by exchanging calcium and magnesium for sodium, so if you use softened water to top off your pool, it may help keep calcium hardness from rising over time. However, it won’t lower the calcium hardness of the water already in your pool and isn’t a practical way to control pool calcium levels. The average water softener installation cost is between $200 and $6,000.

Whether you need a permit or license for a water softener installation depends on your location, as requirements vary significantly. Some municipalities require the installer to hold a plumbing license, some mandate a permit and an inspection, and others require both. In some areas, no special permit or license is needed at all.

To determine the rules in your area, you can contact your local building department or consult a local water softener installer or plumber. Often, only certified professionals are authorized to pull the necessary permits, and they will typically handle the entire permitting process for you. Regardless of local laws, it is always recommended to hire a licensed professional to ensure the system is sized and installed correctly. You can use Angi’s state licensing tool to check an installer’s license status.

Replacing a water softener costs $200 to $6,000, depending on the capacity of the water softener, the type of water softener, and the amount of people living in your home. An ion exchange water softener is the most common type and costs $500 to $3,000. Water distillers, which cost $1,200 to $4,000, and dual-tank models, which cost $1,000 to $5,000, are definitely pricey, but they offer more filtration or capacity, respectively.

A water softener removes minerals from your drinking water and can make your house water softer. These softeners are designed to extend the lifetime of your plumbing system while also making water safer and more palatable for drinking. Hard water, which is water with a heavy amount of suspended particles, can also cause hair damage, skin irritation, and buildup in your pipes.
