Sadly I waited almost 2 months before leaving this review. Not only did they destroy property with their bobcat, the foundation was 3 inches higher on one side than the other. The builder had to try and correct with the wall plates. He crushed the new barrier access and hit the frame on our pool. When Dave was sent pictures and asked to fix it he ignored me but told me builder he would. He never did and now won't reply. Also I had to pay all companies directly.. Kay concrete, the rock company, and the last he didn't tell us but hired someone to haul of the excess dirt then sent him to our door for payment which was additional on top of the quote. I'm told that since his run with the Real Estate company scam he's been on a downward spiral and is broke. Don't trust the quote or the work. I have pics and texts if needed.

I like when people say they will be there at a certain time and they are there on time and I don't have to wait to get the project started. They were very careful with my fence and my yard as they worked.  Would use them again.

About 6-8 weeks after work was completed, a crack developed the length of a step and I had water leakage into the basement, both of these in the area where I had work done at the front entry of our house. Thick caulking was applied in a wide band framing the area as a "repair" of failed workmanship. This "solution" cosmetically ruined the work that was done to my front entry which looks amateur and ugly now. Dave Poppenga was contacted immediately and he said he'd come out the next day to address the problem but he did not show. I called several numbers over a  two week period but no one ever answered the phones. I left messages asking for some communication so we could resolve the problem but my calls were never returned.

OMG.  Do not use this company!  FRAUD IN THE WORST SENSE.   Google Dave Poppenga to read about the FBI discovering his scams and the 2 bankrupt businesses he had.  He did not do what we paid for.  He made me pay all the money before the job was done and left us with a mess.  He charged me to stain my porch and walkway, and the guys that did it had no idea what they were doing.  The walkway was never touched and the porch was not even close to the color Dave showed us.  His crew ruined my porch, yard and storm doors.  I paid for gravel and the driver loaded up what was left, that I had paid for, and took it with him.  We have been calling Dave Poppenga since May 24th and he won't answer the phone and his employee keeps saying he doesn't know where he is or why he won't call us back or return our money.  Dave has the phone transferred to an employee so he can avoid all the pThere were 2 guys that stained and ruined my porch.  I saw one peeing in my yard and the other one ask me for a cold beer.

We got bids from three companies, all from Angie's list. They were all great companies. We did not choose the cheapest
because I have found you often get what you pay for. We got the best for the money however. If any contractors are reading this, it helps to have a sample book of work you have done to show the customer what you can do. Dave went into
great detail about what he would do and what he recommended we do. He seemed very knowledgeable of what will work and what might not work. We had them do an area under our deck and they moved the beams so that the deck stayed up and
they safely worked around it.  I didn't mind as I preferred it done right. Dave and the crew got it all in and done in a day. Then came back a week later and put sealer on the stamped patio. Looks great. Very happy with the outcome
and would not hesitate to recommend or have them do other work.

I contacted Poppenga Concrete for an estimate on staining the concrete in our finished, walkout basement. When they sent an estimator out, I specified that carpeting had been removed, and I wanted to make sure the carpet adhesive (squiggly lines on the floor) would not be visible through the stain.  I was told it would not be a problem.   After receiving quotes from a few companies, we decided on Poppenga because they were available sooner and agreed to match another quote.  We wanted acid stain, and were quoted $5300.  The other option was water stain for $3300, but we liked the look and process of the acid stain better.  The acid stain process should take about 5 days by the time the floor is ground, cleaned, dried, stained, dried again, and sealed.  I was immediately concerned when Poppenga finished the job in two days.
They completed the job while I was away from home, so I was unable to see the finished product before they left.  When I came home that night, I was horribly disappointed.  The floor was blotchy and the carpet adhesive was still visible.  Not to mention the overwhelming chemical smell.  I called the owner to let them know the finished product looked terrible, and I was not paying until it was corrected.  Several days passed with no return phone call.  I continued to call and leave voicemails, and finally heard back.  They would return to correct the job.  The only way to remove the carpet adhesive at this point, was to completely grind the floor and start over.  One week from the time the first job was finished, they returned to start the job again.  During the course of many phone calls, I was told my $5300 project should have been quoted at $3300, since the initial application was in fact water stain, and not acid stain.  A two thousand dollar difference.  Second, they previously sealed the floor with a product that should only be used outdoors, hence the overwhelming smell.
During the second round of staining, I watched the process carefully to make sure it was done correctly and no corners were cut.  They did follow the process with a few hiccups.  A breaker was tripped using the floor grinder, and was left plugged in.  When the power was  turned back on, the unattended grinder ground down to the rock.  Leaving the floor to be patched.  It still doesn?t look right.  Following the second application of stain, we were not entirely pleased, as there were still dark stain blotches around the
outside of the room where the previous stain was not fully removed before restaining.  We decided to have a solid border applied around the edge of the room, as opposed to more grinding.  All in all, I am satisfied with the final product.  I am not happy, and it did not live up to my expectations, but I am ready to move on with my other home projects, and the floor was holding them up.
One final note, they left my home a complete mess.  All the tile floors had overspray and had to be scrubbed with straight ammonia to remove it.  My wet bar has overspray and will need to be sanded and re-stained.  The same applies to my interior doors and fireplace.  My entire home was covered in a very thick layer of dust.  My backyard and fence has patches where left over product was dumped out.  I have cigarette butts and food trash lying about.  My water hose was left out.  And they dribbled stain on my back patio.  It took days and days of cleaning to fix it all.
Would I hire Poppenga Concrete again? No.  Would I recommend them to a friend? No.  This was my first experience using Angie?s List and I am not impressed.  I took many photos but am not sure how to attach them.

"Customers are always right in our book, bent over backwards for this customer and the pics he attached are not finished product, have him send finished photos and then let consumers judge. We didn't have the opportunity to get finished product photos as the floor was wet when we left, we asked the customer if he would be so kind and e-mail us photos of finished product which he said he would do, didn't happen. Also as far as over spray, he told us no worry complete remodel lol to his comments. All I can say is he ended up with a 13000.00 stain job for 3000.00 Hmmm go figure 1 in 30 years you will run into people like this just make the best out of it.."

Poppenga's Concrete failed to return my calls concerning the peeling of the apoxy coating applied to my garage floor last spring. After they were contacted by Angie's List, Poppenga's Concrete called immediately to arrange the necessary repair to the peeling epoxy finish that had been applied to my garage floor last spring.  They appologized for their poor response time and explained that the economy had necessitated working in other areas of the country. The repair has been completed and hopefully will perform better than did the initial application.

I called Poppeenga's for a quote they came out same day. I called a week later to see how far out it would be to get my stuff done, Dave stated he could get me in the following week. They came out and removed all the old concrete, and replaced it with new stamped and colored. They made this project easy and was done in 2 days. The crew was professional and even went a step above, as they even took out a few bushes for me at no additional charge! Thank You
