"I had a seamless experience working with Josh & Shane! I’ve spoke with multiple companies, just shopping around, and this company was by far the most friendly and professional! What sold me was that these guys are local, extremely knowledgeable, and had the best price around! I would recommend this company to everyone ready to go solar!"

"I called to have someone look at my basement drain backing up. The first person quickly diagnosed the issue but didn’t have the camera needed to look at the line. This was a bit annoying since I was very clear in describing the problem before he came out. However, another guy came out first thing in the morning and did a great job diagnosing the issue and took the time to show me and explain his assessment, along with options. They charge $65 to come out for diagnosis. My total for over an hour of camera work on two lines from inside the house and diagnosing the issue was $326. They were both professional, punctual, and didn’t waste time. The second person was honest in telling me not to try something that I think other plumbers would have charged for. John M was a pro and I appreciated his service. I’d use them again."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

In most cases, yes, solar panels are well worth the investment. Going solar with your home’s energy is expensive, but, in most states, the panels will pay for themselves by reducing your electric bills. Solar panels don’t produce greenhouse gasses or other pollutants, meaning you can feel good about using this renewable energy source to power your home. Plus, installing solar panels can boost your home value, helping your profit off your next home sale.

Solar panels should get at least four to six hours of direct sunlight daily. It’s even better if sunlight reaches panels between the peak hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. This is enough to power a home, depending on your solar system’s size and energy needs. Remember that panels will generate some power under cloudy skies or in the shade, and many systems compensate for lower sun exposure by drawing energy from the grid or battery storage.

Solar water heating systems are not one-size-fits-all. You'll likely work with a team of experts to get the job done—including solar panel installers, plumbers, and water heater installers. A specialist will help you decide if a passive or active system is best for your local weather, home layout, roof stability, and your budget.

Yes, it is possible to install solar panels on a tar and gravel roof, but it is not the ideal roofing material for a solar installation. The process requires roof penetrations to install the solar racking system. While installers will seal these penetrations, they still increase the risk of leaks. This risk is higher on tar and gravel roofs, which are often flat. Flat roofs are more prone to leaks than sloped roofs because they can pool water during heavy rain and hold snow for longer periods, exposing the roof to more moisture.

The average homeowner needs around 22 solar panels, but the exact number depends on your monthly energy consumption. Your solar professional should size your array to offset your consumption, meaning you’ll need fewer panels if you use below-average amounts of electricity, or more than 22 if you use above-average amounts of electricity. The number of panels also depends on the output of each panel. The average is around 400 watts, but you might need more panels if you install less capable equipment. Since there are so many variables, you should have a professional size your system.
