"I had several drywall issues that needed some attention but thought it would be difficult to find someone that would be interested in doing the job. I searched the internet and found PatchMaster. Requested a quote and Adam responded immediately. At first I thought the quote was high but considering the professionalism and workmanship that i received it was well worth the cost.John did the repair work and painting and he is a real craftsman. Nearly impossible to see where the defects had been. This is a very professional outfit in all regards. I am certainly pleased with the results."

Small jobs welcome

"Cesar did an amazing job on our painting project. He painted our living room, kitchen/dining room, and entryway. He was attentive to detail, neat, and got the job done in a timely manner. Not only is he an excellent painter but he?s also an outstanding person- friendly, courteous, and trustworthy. We would hire him again in a heartbeat! Note: The drop down menu gave me only one option for work done which was drywall repair but ours was a painting project."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

While you can put new drywall over old drywall, it’s not always the best option. In some cases, drywalling over drywall can make it harder to find wires and pipes behind your walls and conceal more serious problems with your walls. It can also make the room smaller. On the plus side, putting drywall over drywall can improve soundproofing and insulation. Plus, it’s often less expensive than tearing down and adding new drywall.

When you are learning how to tape and mud drywall, waiting for things to dry requires a lot of patience. So how long does drywall mud take to dry? On average, it takes about 24 hours. However, it depends on things like the thickness of the mud, as well as the room’s temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Using thin layers of mud in a warm, low-humidity room with good airflow reduces average drying time. You also could speed up drying time by making use of hot drywall mud, which consists of a powder that you mix with water, instead of using pre-mixed mud.

Whether you need a drywall anchor depends on the specifics of your project, particularly what you're hanging and where. You do not need a drywall anchor if you can screw or nail the object directly into a wooden stud, as the wood provides sufficient support and stability. However, if there are no studs in the location where you plan to hang the item, you should use drywall anchors to ensure it is securely supported. For very lightweight objects, like small pictures, adhesive picture hanging strips can be a suitable alternative to anchors.

Plastering lasts for around 15 to 20 years without needing repairs or maintenance in most cases, and with proper upkeep, plastering can last a lifetime—sometimes more than 100 years. Plaster repair costs between $1 and $3 per square foot, and you may need these services once every 15 to 20 years or so unless you have a harsh climate where humidity changes are a constant issue. You can also opt to skim-coat plaster for between $0.90 and $1.30 per square foot, which may serve you better in the long run.

How you hang the drywall can affect the finishing process. It's often easier to finish horizontal drywall panels, as the seams run across the wall rather than up and down. Standard drywall panels are 48 inches wide, so the seam is easy to reach without bending down or stretching your arms.
