"They reached out the same day I requested quotes and started the work a couple of days later. They patched the drywall and remounted the towel rack on the wall. Given the repair, they recommended moving it slightly to the side for better hold, and also repainted the full bathroom wall with like paint color for color matching."

"Seth spent the day here fixing wood rot on my door frames, installing weatherstripping, and repairing a hole in the wall. He responded to my request quickly, scheduled me promptly, and did a fantastic job. It gives me peace of mind knowing that I now have a highly capable and competent handyman to call on as these jobs come up. Thanks, Seth."

"We can't say enough good things about Dwight & his crew. From his prompt response to our bid request and throughout the project they were professional, on time and thorough. They did a complete renovation of our walls & woodwork & replaced popcorn ceilings with knockdown finish. All of the floors & furniture were totally covered and protected prior to starting and they vacuumed and mopped upon completion. Dwight went the extra mile to make sure everything was right and it looks great. Would definitely recommend them."

Customers say: True professional

"Juan and his team did incredible work and fixed up a lot of things in my house. Some large, some small. - Fixed and painted 2 walls that had been damaged by previous contractors - Repaired a 6x6 post in the deck - Updated all of the power outlets in the kitchen - Power-washed the entire exterior of the house - Fixed and cleaned the large fountain in front of the house - Painted areas of drywall that were exposed after replacing thermostats The team was very accommodating and professional the whole way. They really took care of my house. Not only that, but unlike a lot of contractors that only show up to sell to you and collect payment with the work subcontracted out, the owner if the company is out there doing the work with the team. I will absolutely hire this crew again."

Small jobs welcome

"The did a new install in part of the basement and a repair in another part, MUCH better job than the first person we hired! Did exactly what they said and then some. Would strongly recommend them! Both Rod and Jill were super easy to deal with. Don't hesitate to hire them!"

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

A retaining wall can only function as a fence if it’s high enough on all sides to prevent someone from accidentally falling into the pool. However, most retaining walls retain dirt, which means their purpose is not related to safety. There would need to be nothing on the other side of the wall for it to be considered a fence, but in that case, it wouldn’t retain anything and would cease to be a retaining wall.

Failure to compact the soil during construction is the most common cause of leaning retaining walls. In addition, poor drainage can lead to excessive water pressure behind a retaining wall, pushing against it until it begins to move forward away from the soil it is holding back.

Regular inspection for issues like cracks or leaning and ensuring drainage stays clear.

If you don’t backfill a retaining wall—either at all or adequately enough—the wall won’t drain well, and water will be able to pass through it. Poor drainage will lead to a warped wall or a buildup of hydrostatic pressure, which can eventually collapse your retaining wall. If you have particularly sloped land, consult a structural engineer to ensure your hardscaping is adding value to your home.

Yes, you can use cinder blocks for many purposes, including retaining walls, foundations, garage walls, and fences. Building a cinder block retaining wall costs between $60 and $200 per linear foot, including materials and professional labor. For a 30-foot-long retaining wall, the cost ranges from $1,800 to $6,000.
