Small jobs welcome

"We were highly pleased throughout the process. The professionalism and workmanship both were first-rate. This was a comparatively small concrete repair project on some crumbling and deteriorating concrete at the entry to our garage. But we never got the sense of being treated simply as a fill-in project. In the day and a half of work, crews were consistently on time, courteous and professional. We were also impressed by the diligence in keeping the surrounding area clean. They even swept up before taking a lunch break. Most importantly, the work product was excellent. Would definitely recommend and use them again."

Garages questions, answered by experts

If you enjoy tinkering with cars, woodworking, or exercising in your garage, then a garage heater may be worth it to you. If your garage is used mainly for storage, you may opt to skip installing a garage heater. If you live somewhere with favorable weather year-round, you can probably go without one as well. But for most homeowners, a garage heater is a good investment and makes the garage a more comfortable place to spend time.

If you have a garage heater that is 1,500 watts or more, it will need its own breaker. As a good rule of thumb, no appliance should exceed 1,500 watts per outlet for best outcomes. Consult a local garage heating service to determine the power needs for your outdoor or indoor space.

While it’s possible to replace your own garage door, it’s a dangerous DIY job, and the work is best left to professionals. Garage doors can weigh hundreds of pounds and are quite bulky, so maneuvering them into place for installation is a tough job. Additionally, working with high-tension garage door springs is dangerous, especially if you install them incorrectly. The labor for garage door replacement costs around $400 on average, which is a small price to pay to guarantee your safety and the security of your home.

If you're cleaning out your garage, taking everything out first and starting with a clean slate can help. Reviewing what you have and what you want to get rid of makes organizing your garage, thoroughly cleaning the space, and making any repairs easier. When you put back the items you’re keeping, use designated storage solutions to make it easier to find things and keep them tidy.

A garage door screen can be a worthwhile investment, especially if you frequently use your garage for activities like a home gym, workshop, or other hobbies. It allows you to enjoy fresh air and natural light without worrying about bugs. Additionally, a screen provides ventilation that can improve air quality when you're working with paints, varnishes, or producing sawdust.

The best option depends on your usage. For occasional use, a DIY fabric screen is a low-cost, simple solution that you can put up and take down as needed. If you plan to spend a lot of time in the space, investing in a customized, professionally installed garage door screen can help transform the area into a new hub for your household.
