"Mack and his team did an outstanding job removing a very large oak from our front yard. I was concerned as the tree was located over my house and our neighbors house and as it was coming down - there wasn't a branch that touched either of our homes. These guys are hardworking, energetic and all around a really great team. Their price was competitive, Mack is courteous and made sure to stay in constant communication with me during the project. Can you believe this....he asked me if I was happy with how things were progressing, made eye contact, shook my hand and really blew me away with his customer service. After our experience, we won't use anyone else and will recommend Tabernacle Tree and Land Solutions to everyone that we know. If you get the chance, check out one of their tree guys (Brad B) as he scales up the tree and cuts down the branches - it truly is a craft!"

"Job well done. Everyone was pleasant and made sure they met my expectations. I was so satisfied with their work, I recommended them to others, and had them back for another tree removal and grind. Great to do business with! I highly recommend."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, palm tree stumps are one of the most difficult types to remove due to how their roots grow. Unlike other trees, palm tree roots grow horizontally and vertically. Palm tree roots grow as deep as three feet into the ground, although soil and growing conditions could mean they go as far as 50 inches into the earth.

If you want to be able to repurpose the grass in the area where you removed a stump later, you’ll have to dig quite deep—and perhaps wide—to trim away all the roots.

Most experts recommend removing a tree that has sustained more than 25% loss in the limbs, trunk, or circumference of the bark. Doing an initial trimming of damaged and dangling branches, but then waiting a few days of monitoring to decide how much more you might need to cut can help you better assess the total damage to the tree. However, consulting a tree maintenance pro to make this determination the best course of action before removing a tree.

If a tree isn’t pruned, it can inhibit proper growth and fruit production, cause damage to both the tree and your property, and create entry points for pests and diseases. Pruning a tree enhances its stability, appearance, shape, and growth. Pruning trees regularly can also save you money long-term by avoiding overgrown or dangerous dying trees.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.

Pruning can impact cold hardiness—but it’s less about the exact temperature and more about temperature variation. Generally, you don’t want to prune trees when there’s a risk of temperatures suddenly dropping from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A tree is most sensitive until 48 hours after it’s pruned.
