Customers say: Quality work

"Rob and his team did an AMAZING job of painting the LR, DR, upstairs hall, 3 bedrooms, FR and Library in our house. They painted walls, ceilings, trim and doors. Rob provided a colorist to help me choose paint colors as I have had difficulty making good paint color choices in the past; she was extremely helpful and we absolutely LOVE the colors we chose! The lead painter was able to correct several texture issues on our bedroom ceiling as well as repair trim details so beautifully that you would never know repairs had been made. The workers were very thorough and professional; Rob was onsite every day to be sure we were satisfied with the work. He uses the highest quality products and he and his team are committed to excellence and complete customer satisfaction. We are so thrilled with the way this project turned out - the colors, the richness of the paint and the quality of the work far exceeded our expectations - we canâ t recommend Rob and his team highly enough!! If you are considering any type of painting project do yourself a favor and call Gormanâ s Fine Finishes - you wonâ t regret it!!"

Painting questions, answered by experts

If you have the time and the budget, we strongly recommend staining your fence, especially if it's looking a bit tired or hasn't been treated recently. While you may not see the same return on investment (ROI) as you would with a project like a kitchen remodel, staining a fence is one of the best ways to add a facelift to your property—a new fence stain adds serious curb appeal to your home.

The best type of paint to use for chain link fences is an oil-based paint. Oil-based paints are durable and will withstand the elements well. Search for an oil-based paint with rust protection and aluminum flakes to further protect the longevity of the fence.

Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.

Acrylic latex paint is the best option to use on your outdoor wrought iron fence, because it holds up well against the elements. Use a high-quality, exterior-grade paint specifically designed for use on metal. You can choose between spray paint or regular liquid paint. As for primer, it's best to use an oil-based and rust inhibiting option before painting your wrought iron fence.

Choosing the best color for your home exterior should factor in longevity as well as your personal taste. To keep your house looking newly painted as long as possible, stay away from red paint. Although red homes pop and are quintessential for country-style barns, red paint tends to fade fastest in the sun. Go with earth tones if you want paint that best resists fading.
