"Tom took an interest in this project from the proposal through completion and communicated well throughout. Very pleased with quality of the work and his price was reasonable and considerably less than other proposals received. Work was started on time and completed as quickly as weather and ground conditions allowed. Site cleanup on project completion was thorough and incidental damage to areas away from the project due to the wet grounds were raked and seeded as well. Highly recommend."

"Mark and his crew provided excellent professional flatwork. Very competitive bid. Mark is very reasonable to work with. They, like most concrete contractors, are very busy, so be sure to stay in communication. Overall, very satisfied. 9.5 out of 10 with 10 being the highest number."

"I purposely delayed writing this review until we had used the remodeled bathrooms and laundry room for a time. The work was exceptional and no major issues have arisen. Mikey and Jacob are excellent craftsmen and the work shows their pride in doing an excellent job. The cabinets are great, the closet doors that were custom made to accommodate the unusual sizes were also done well, and we love, love the Onyx countertops, shower stall, and bathtub walls. The plumbing was done correctly and no issues have been discovered. There are 3 minor issues that need to be resolved but they do not impact the overall function of the rooms. We will recommend this company."

"As expected, there was a long delay between signing a contract and work beginning. This was not the fault of the contractor --- material availability since COVID was the obvious factor here. G.A. Chott was about 'middle of the road' in terms of quotes we received for our kitchen. We had quotes that were 25% less and quotes that were tens of thousands more. Ultimately we felt that the detail in the proposal materials and the professionalism of Darryll (owner) made G.A. Chott the best fit for us. With the work now complete, I do feel we made the correct decision in having them perform the work. In the end, the project wound up being about 14% over the initial estimate. It is important to note that some of this was due to changes made by us, the customer. A good portion, however, was bringing electrical up to code. In our opinion this would have been easily discoverable during the estimate by viewing the breaker box, so I was a little disappointed by this. From demo day to completed kitchen was right at 2 months. That said, after 5 weeks we had a mostly functional kitchen (appliances and cabinets in place, cardboard countertops). Work then paused until countertops were ready; this delay is not G.A. Chott's doing, but certainly something to plan for regardless of who you go with. Material quality is midgrade per my research --- better than box store and a bit below high end. This was in line with the price point as compared to other estimates. Overall we've been happy with G.A. Chott, their staff and quality. We would hire them for additional large projects, but would take what we've learned into that scenario, do a bit more research into code compliance (as compared to when our house was built) and ensure everything possible is accounted for in the initial quote."

"The real deal. John and crew couldn't have been nicer or done a better job. Took us out for countertop selection, went through every design, detail, and visited job site during install. Kitchen turned out amazing, cabinetry is perfect, everything flows. Great experience. Spent about $60k on the project and I couldn't be happier. Having been less than satisfied with other local home-remodelers in the past, this was a great experience."

"Tom and his crew did an excellent job. He listened to what I wanted accomplished and they really transformed the front of our house. The curb appeal, of the house, is so much nicer now -- it even looks much more inviting. I whole-heartedly recommend Tom and his company, Signature Landscapes & Design. I will definitely used their services again.

Since knowing how to install countertops correctly requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of the topic, we recommend hiring a professional countertops installer near you to work on this project. Kitchen countertops are a high-visibility investment, meaning mistakes made during DIY installation will be easy to spot, may cause damage, and potentially require re-purchasing materials. Professional countertop installers have the skills, tools, and experience to place your new kitchen feature safely and correctly.
There are several countertop options available to fit your lifestyle and needs.
Granite countertops are durable and come in a variety of colors.
Soapstone countertops are prone to scratches and best in smaller kitchens.
Marble countertops are less durable than granite but a good option for busy kitchens.
Slate countertops are stain-resistant, making them easy to clean.
Limestone countertops must be sealed often to prevent scratches.
Acrylic countertops cost less than granite while still providing durability.
Laminate countertops are the most affordable but chip and fade faster.
Wood countertops need monthly sealing to maintain.
The cost to install countertops is $3,105 on average. This project cost can range from $400 to $8,500, depending on the material, edging, and countertop size.
Laminate countertops are generally the most cost-efficient, ranging from $8 to $27 per square foot. On the other hand, slate countertops are considered more luxurious and range from $30 to $90 per square foot. There are also countertop materials priced between those two, including stainless steel, granite, Corian, and wood.
The best way to save money on countertop installation is to choose an affordable material. For example, if you have a busy kitchen and need durability, choose a more affordable but lasting material like granite countertops. Likewise, if you don't use your countertops often, you can use a softer material that costs less than more sturdy ones.
Another way to cut costs is to remove and dispose of the existing countertops yourself, if possible. That way, countertop installers can get straight to placing the new feature, reducing labor costs.
It typically takes one to three days to install kitchen countertops. A few factors like size and material impact the time it takes to install a countertop. For example, if you have two slabs of countertop material, it won’t take as long to install as placing several custom pieces of countertop.
This timelines allows for removing existing countertops and any plumbing disconnect and reconnect that needs to happen. Plan on the higher end of the time frame if you've chosen custom countertops versus large slabs.
