"Zak and his crew did an AWESOME job installing new lighting at Reeves Wiedeman plumbing store. The job has made it twice as easy for our customers to locate and find the products they need for their job. They are very good people to be around and very knowledgeable in the work they do. If you are looking for an Honest Electrical company to do the job, look no further! Recommend them on any project you have. They were excellent in choosing the fixtures we needed ,ordered them and went right to work. Get on their list fast, because good work ethics is hard to find until you meet these guys. Don't waste your time looking elsewhere! We were very very happy with them."

"We?ve worked with Andy at AAA on several projects, and they?ve delivered exceptional results every time. Most recently, they renovated our shower ? what started as a leaky, outdated stall is now a beautiful, fully tiled shower. They resolved the leak issue completely and gave us a space that?s not only functional but a joy to use every day. We also hired them for a full kitchen renovation, and once again, their expertise showed. They installed new cabinetry, countertops, flooring, lights and pulled everything together with care and attention to detail. The process was smooth from start to finish and as you can see in the pictures that during the process they were clean and orderly. They even installed new flooring installed in our RV! What really sets Andy and AAA apart is how trustworthy and reliable they are. They show up when they say they will, communicate clearly, and never cut corners. We?ve come to rely on them for the quality of their work and they will give you peace of mind."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to distinguish a positive black wire from a negative black wire if you know what type of circuit the wires are in. If it’s an alternating current (AC), then black wires are positive. If it’s a direct current (DC), then black wires are negative.

Sometimes, a circuit has two black wires. In that case, the positive black wire will be solid black while the negative black wire will have a white stripe on it. If you’re still unsure, you can use a multimeter to check.

It's possible to get power from an outlet for a light switch. However, you must install additional wiring to get current from the outlet to the switch and from the switch to the load it will control. Also, you must ensure that the outlet's electrical circuit can accommodate the additional demand.

These advanced generators use a key fob or a smartphone app to remotely start, which is ideal for getting power back on immediately without venturing outside. This feature is more common on whole home generators, but you may be able to find it on large portable generators, too.

The most common gauge for indoor outlets around your home is 12- and 14-gauge wires. But if you’re working with larger appliances like ovens, washing machines, or dryers (all of which require more amplitude), you might find 10-, eight-, or six-gauge wires to help support those hefty appliances.

Appliances in your home that need dedicated circuits include:

  • Refrigerators and chest freezers

  • Electric ranges, microwaves, and toaster ovens

  • Dishwashers and garbage disposals

  • Washers and dryers

  • Heating and air conditioning units

  • Hot tubs, saunas, and water pumps

  • Sump pumps

  • Central vacuums
