"I hired this company to extend the natural gas in my house and would definitely recommend them. I felt that the plumber who did the installation really knew what he was doing and seemed like a great guy. The installation went well and the price was fair."

"

My daughter is 7 mos pregnant with her first baby and lives in an older home that has never had a dishwasher. In order to make life a bit easier for her, I wanted to gift her a new dishwasher. I contacted G.A. Chott Associates by email on 4/20/16 and heard from owner, Darryll Hileman, just a few hours later.  We exchanged a few more emails in which we determined the size of the cabinets (18 in) and therefore the size of the dishwasher (18 in). Darryll detailed the work they'd do, how long he thought the work would take (4 hours), how much it would cost, and assured me that when they finished, my daughter would have a working dishwasher. After I agreed, he drew up a contract and sent it to me by email on 4/27/16. In the meantime, I purchased a new dishwasher and had it delivered so it'd be ready for the install. Angie from G.A. Chott called a few days later to schedule the install on 5/11/16.

The installer, Ryan, showed up on time and went right to work. He had to remove the existing cabinet and then install the plumbing and do electrical work before the dishwasher could be set in place. Ryan constantly removed the old cabinet and other trash throughout the installation. He was professional, polite, and pleasant when communication was necessary. When Ryan finished, he ran the dishwasher through a test cycle to ensure it was operational and that there were no leaks. He didn't leave a scrap of debris behind.

My daughter and son-in-law are absolutely thrilled with their new dishwasher. Compared to most G.A. Chott customers who have left reviews, this was a very small project, but it was a big deal to us. Mr. Hileman didn't treat the work we needed done as if it was any less important than the huge remodeling projects they deal with every day. I really, really, appreciated that. I would absolutely use G.A. Chott for remodeling projects in the future.

"We didn't plan on remodeling our kitchen, but things happen and we had too. We did not have the luxury of planning out ahead of time, this was all on the fly. But we extended our kitchen and it is just stunning. Norse Construction was extremely responsive and were able to find ways to save us money here and there. Over all it was great."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

The average lifespan of a boiler is typically between 15 and 20 years, though some may last for as little as 10 years while others can reach 30. A boiler's longevity is influenced by several factors, including the quality of the unit, proper installation, and consistent professional maintenance.

The material also plays a significant role. Older boilers made from durable cast iron can last for over 20 years, with some functioning for up to 50 years. However, it's important to consider their lower efficiency, which can lead to higher utility bills. Modern boilers, often made from steel alloys, are designed to withstand high pressure and temperatures and have an average lifespan of about 20 years.

To maximize your boiler's lifespan, ensure it is installed correctly, have it professionally maintained each year, and address any necessary repairs immediately.

If you're often struggling with radiator issues like chilly spots, leaks, or annoying noises, those are common indications that your radiator may need to be replaced. Corrosion, uneven heating, and persistent hissing sounds are common issues as well. When repairs become a regular chore and your home’s energy bills start to rise, a new radiator will bring the comfort and savings you need.

The cost-efficiency of baseboard heaters depends on the type and how you use them. Generally, standard electric baseboard heaters can be expensive to run because they use electric resistance heating, which is less energy-efficient than systems like forced-air or heat pumps. However, hydronic and gas versions are typically much cheaper to operate. Hydronic models are more energy-efficient because they heat a liquid that retains warmth longer, preventing the thermostat from turning on and off as often. The overall running cost is also influenced by local electricity rates, your home's insulation, and your usage habits. To increase efficiency, you can use baseboard heaters for zoning, meaning you only heat the specific rooms you are using.

There are several types of home radiators, and the most common are steam heat radiators, electric radiators, and dual-fuel radiators. Steam heat radiators are connected to a boiler. Electric radiators can operate without being connected to anything else—they just need an electrical outlet. If you have a dual-fuel radiator, you’ll see a valve at the bottom of the system with a wire coming out of it and going into a wall. These are often your towel radiators in the bathroom. The type of radiator you have will impact how you turn it on.

The best way to compare HVAC quotes is getting a few detailed quotes from local companies with good reputations. Then, go over the quotes line by line. Protect yourself by insisting on in-person estimates that include equipment manufacturer names, model numbers, SEER ratings, amounts and numbers of materials, details of warranties on equipment and labor, and other specifics.

Knowing the exact equipment and materials is the only way that you can fairly compare quotes. Quotes that are much lower than others can be a sign that the company isn’t providing the best quality service or materials.
