"This company is obviously nationwide and hires local contractors.  I trusted Agies List that all contractors are licensed, bonded and have background checks.  This person was a handyman and not qualified to wall mount, conceal wires, add electrical outlet.  He  spend five hours in my home, for a job that should have taken two hours and left the area in a disaster.  The TV was hung close to the ceiling, the wires were hanging down from the TV, and the receiver was sitting on top of a plaster box because the cord was too short.  He was obviously not qualified to install TV wall mounts.  I have photos.    As soon as he left, I called Best Buy Geek Squad.  They were able to come out the next day and mount the TV professionally.  I have used the geek squad in Virginia and they are highly qualified.  They charge more than this nationwide company but you get what you pay for.  I called Angies List the day after the disaster and said i did not want to rate this company but I wanted to talk to a manager. No one called me to apologize. I have cancelled my membership.  Do not use this company unless you can be assured that the local contractor is qualified and is licensed.  You should never let anyone into your home that has not had background checks.

"There were many things wrong in my computer (my fault and letting grandchildren on computer) Robert was so helpful, gave me many good instructions to keep everything safe, which I have written down, feel like I have a new computer. He was so excellent and experienced, took his time and was meticulous about what needed to be done. He was a pleasure to work with and I will use this company again! Linda Disy"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If your Willmar home features plaster walls, finished attics, or tight crawl spaces, running new wiring can be tricky. Older homes with knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring often need extra planning for safe upgrades. Homes with concrete block basements or multiple additions may require creative solutions for routing wires and ensuring proper grounding, so a thorough inspection of your home’s layout is essential before starting any project.

Helpful?

In Willmar, plugging multiple high-wattage appliances into the same outlet, running cords under rugs, and leaving outdoor outlets exposed to snow or ice can all stress your electrical system. Failing to test GFCI outlets in kitchens and bathrooms, or ignoring flickering lights after heavy storms, also increases wear. Regularly checking for moisture near panels and outlets helps protect against Willmar’s harsh winter conditions.

Helpful?

Your Willmar home is well-suited for electrical upgrades if it has copper wiring, a modern breaker panel, and open access in the basement or attic. If you notice frequent breaker trips, outdated fuses, or outlets that feel warm, these are signs your system may need attention. Homes near local lakes or with sump pumps should also have updated grounding for added safety.

Helpful?

Willmar homeowners are prioritizing smart home upgrades like programmable thermostats and whole-house surge protection to handle winter power fluctuations. Dedicated circuits for home offices, USB charging outlets, and energy-efficient LED lighting are in demand. Outdoor lighting for walkways and garages, as well as backup generator panels, are popular additions to prepare for storms and ensure safety during Willmar’s long winter months.

Helpful?

In Willmar, keep a non-contact voltage tester, wire strippers, and a digital multimeter for safe troubleshooting. Cold-rated extension cords and weatherproof covers are vital for outdoor outlets during winter. Stock up on surge protectors, GFCI testers, and extra batteries for flashlights. Having de-icing salt nearby helps keep exterior electrical panels accessible during snowstorms, which is especially important given Willmar’s frequent winter weather.
