"I called Starlight Electric and they were to my house in 2 hours. Diagnosed and fixed the issues I was having within 2 hours. The price and customer service were great but most of all they were very clean which was very important to my wife. I will be calling them for another electrical needs I need in the future."

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

"It was okay. Once I called him, he came quickly. There were additional charges. He broke up the wall and that never got fixed. He did the electrical stuff. He did what I wanted him to do. They were just average. They adequately did what I wanted them to do. He broke the wall and I didn't like that. He didn't even say anything. He came right away when I called him."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For many homeowners, sheds are more than storage spaces for tools or lawn care appliances. If you’re thinking about building a work space outdoors or could make your life simpler by running electricity to a spot that’s closer to your yard, it could absolutely be worth the cost.

Yes, you can use a 3/0 AWG wire for a 200 amp service, but only if it is made of copper, as 3/0 copper wire has an allowable ampacity of 225 amps. If you are using aluminum or aluminum copper-clad wire, you need to use at least 4/0 AWG.

Schedule regular inspections, clean fixtures, and replace worn-out components promptly.

The safest way to pull an electrical cord from the wall outlet is by gently but firmly grabbing the plug and pulling it out. Pulling on the cord instead of the plug can cause damage to the cord, leading to an increased risk of electrical problems like fire or electric shock. If you notice damaged wiring on an appliance or device, it’s best to stop using it immediately.

If you’re someone who likes to tinker around the house and make DIY repairs, a multimeter or voltmeter can be a great tool to have around, especially if you’re comfortable with electrical repairs. That said, if working with electricity feels out of your depth, you don’t need to invest in a multimeter. Reach out to an electrical pro for any electrical work you need done if any part of you is hesitant about a project.
