"Its been six months since Aquarius Home Services installed our water softening and reverse osmosis sytems. We love having soft water for washing and bathing and knowing that our drinking water is safe to drink. As part the followup purchase contract Aquarius provides, today our technician, Nick Knapper, tested all the equipment to ensure everything was running properly. He answered all my questions, changed filters, filled the salt tank, and left additional salt. I couldn't have asked for more prompt, courteous, and reliable service. Thank you, Nick and Aquarius Home Services!"

"DJ's came out to assess my water heater issue. Don was great and helpful and provided a few options. I ended up needing to replace my water heater so did not end up hiring DJ's for that project."

"I had an old water heater (was in the house when I moved in about 20 years ago) and it started to leak. After shutting off the water to the water heater, I did a little Angie's List research to find a company to do the replacement. I called a couple and decided to use Randy Lane, based on cost and my interaction with them, which I felt was cordial and helpful, and made an appointment.
The service person arrived on time on the day of the appointment and went to work. He disconnected the old heater and hauled it out. The new heater was brought in and he did the needed plumbing work to connect the water and also made the natural gas connections. He fired up the unit and briefed me on the new unit - how to turn-off the water and gas, if needed, temperature, etc.
The area was left in the same condition as when he arrived.

"My wife and I contacted Radon Removal, Inc. to install a new radon mitigation system in our house. I cannot say enough good things about this company or the service they provided. Randy took the time to answer all of my questions over the phone to make me fully understand the process and granular details before we committed to the install. Then, once we agreed to go with their service, Josh and Mike installed the system. They were both professional and courteous, kept the worksite clean and were very hard workers. The job took a total of 4 hours to complete, but left with clear instructions as to everything the did, how the system works and what to do if any warranty issues were to arise in the future, however unlikely. My wife and I were thoroughly impressed with how precise and exacting their work was, both in routing the plumbing of the system, and how unobtrusive they made the system appear in our house. We are still awaiting the results of our followup radon test, but can easily recommend the guys at Radon Removal, Inc. for a truly outstanding job, start to finish. Bravo!"
When possible, the pipe is run to the garage, and the fan is in the garage attic.
When there is no way to get the pipe through the interior of the building, the fan and pipe will be outside.

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Hard water isn’t necessarily bad for you. In some ways, it’s good for you. If you’re deficient in magnesium or calcium, hard water can give you a mineral boost that you wouldn’t get with soft water. However, this is where the benefits of hard water pretty much stop. Hard water can cause many minor inconveniences and lead to costly, premature replacements of your water-using appliances.

Whether you need a license or permit for water softener installation depends on your location. Some municipalities require the installer to hold a plumbing license, while others may only require a permit and an inspection. In some cases, both a permit and a licensed installer are necessary, and some areas have no requirements at all. Often, only certified plumbers and electricians are allowed to pull the necessary permits. To find out the specific regulations in your area, you can contact your local building department. Alternatively, a local water softener installer or plumber will be familiar with the requirements and can typically pull the permits for you. Regardless of local laws, it is always recommended to hire a licensed professional to ensure the system is sized and installed correctly. You can use tools like Angi’s state licensing tool to verify an installer's license status.

No. You should never directly drain a water softener into a sewer cleanout. This practice is illegal in many areas because it could allow raw sewage to get into your drinking water and make you seriously ill. Many places have codes requiring a specific seal, pipe, and a large air gap between a water softener and a sewage cleanout. Check out Florida's Plumbing Building Code as an example of what these restrictions might look like.

If your water softener repair is fairly straightforward, like a simple filter replacement, then you can probably do it yourself with little risk. However, anything beyond a simple fix should be addressed by someone with extensive plumbing expertise to avoid costly water softener problems, like leaks.

That said, even simple problems can be complicated to diagnose, particularly if your water softener is attached to a whole-house treatment system. So, unless you feel absolutely certain that the problem is an easy fix that you can take on yourself, it's probably best to hire a plumber to diagnose and fix the problem.

Water purifiers and water softeners serve different purposes, so the best one will depend on your particular needs. Water purifiers remove contaminants from water (such as bacteria, viruses, and chemicals), leaving you with ultra-clean and safe water. However, water softeners remove minerals from your water so that the water doesn’t leave stains around your house or cause plumbing problems.
