"Nick, Gunnar and Jack came over to do a partial basement interior drain and sump system install that I had been waiting on getting started for several years, and they made it look nice with minimal intervention to the area. It was such a sigh of relief to see it done well and at reasonable timing. The persistent small basement leak issue had been happening every spring and fall for 8 years. Now it's all set up with the best fix money can buy. So glad for their valued help! After the job was done, (and even somewhat during the job) Nick made sure to answer any questions and be very thorough in showing me every feature that was added, how to maintain the system, etc. This was an ideal experience, and I trust the same will be true for you if you have these guys come over! Only thing that could be better for me is if it were all free, but these guys have to go home and take care of their families too just like the rest of us. "Hal and I have been working together on several interior and exterior projects over the past three or four years.  The most recent project was the completion of the backyard fencing, including a gate.  As always, Hal expertly managed the project.  The quality of his work is always high.  The fence is gorgeous with Hal's sense of artistry clearly evident.  I find that Hal is extraordinarily conscientious and a very effective communicator.  He and his team are reliable, and Hal actively supervises the team to ensure that the work meets his high standards.  Hal and his team's work is completed quickly and timely, and the work site is always neat and clean.  Hal and his team are very careful to respect my neighbors' property during the tear down and construction phases and to keep my dogs' needs in mind (they always installed temporary fences over night so that the dogs could run during the evening).  It is hard for me to find words to describe the skill and artistry that Hal brings to fencing project.  I recommend referring to his website at www.gardenstructuresandmore.com.
I highly recommend Hal and Garden Structures and More for backyard fencing projects.  Hal listens to me and designs structures that match my tastes.  He provides me with guidance and suggestions that are truly helpful.  I don't spend any time managing Hal's projects or checking his work as I know that Hal has such high standards for his work.  Hal is very good at communicating with me.  I always know the status of a project because Hal has always contacted me before I can even thing about calling him.  In the end, Hal makes it really easy for me to get projects completed, which is something that I value in a contractor.  As an aside, Hal's skills and reliability extend to interior projects.  Hal has built two stair cases, refinished bathroom walls and ceiling, and completed other projects for me.  Hal is very knowledgeable, reliable, and skilled about interior projects.  Again, I highly recommend Hal and Garden Structures and More.

"All-Star installed 2 sump pumps in our basement. The estimate was fair and our questions and change request were accommodated courteously and professionally. On install day, the team arrived as promised and brought in extra guys and worked late to complete it in one day. I appreciated the communication before to confirm the job (including the suggestion to cover everything to avoid dust) and the follow-up call the week after."

"I had a small amount of water/moisture intruding into the basement from where the wall met the floor along the North side of my basement. I called and set up an estimate with All-Star Basements after reading other reviews/quotes on Angie's list. The inspector, Rob, arrived and looked at the basement. He was courteous, professional, and answered all my questions. He gave me a very competitive quote for laying a drain tile system from the inside. The work consists of tearing up the concrete (2' width) along the inside basement walls and laying rock and drain hose leading to an inside sump pump then pouring new concrete over the excavated area. My area of concern was the North and North-East corner of the house. Rob bid $2000 to install a system that covers 2' of the West wall, the entire North wall, and 6' of the East wall and a sump pump. A 30' length job in total for $2,000.
The day of the project I received a call that the workers would start about two hours late because they had to clean out the work trailer after heavy rains soaked their gear. When the workers arrived they made sure to place floor coverings and plastic in areas to prevent dust intrusion into the rest of the house. They then jackhammered, excavated, and installed the system. It took about 7 hrs. The workers were polite, efficient, and very hard working. I was impressed. They poured the concrete and afterwards they invited me to inspect their work. They did a very good job leveling the concrete. Last they asked me where I wanted the outside sump pump drain hose placed. I wanted it to go towards the back of the house. They placed it in an area where it would be completely hidden from view (along the house behind plants and into shrubs along the fence).
After a few days of heavy rain the system was collecting water and pumping it out. I was surprised because I didn't expect to see the system at work until spring. The pump is VERY quiet, basically undetectable. I'm very satisfied with All Star Basements.

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"Jack Rasmussen came to the house and listened to our immediate needs for plumbing. He had some excellent suggestions. Example: even though our home is in good shape, we did not realize this particular home did Not have "shut off" valves behind the toilet and under the sink. Once our plumbing was scheduled, Master Plumber - Jason - did an "Outstanding" job. He was very personable, but also knows his trade extremely well. We had a last minute request to get a very old main "shutoff valve" replaced. Jack Rasmussen OK'd our request, and Jason had absolutely no problem accomplishing the additional request with kindness and precision. We would Highly Recommend Master Plumbing (out of Albert Lea, MN) for your needs.
