"We really like our 50+-year-old kitchen cabinets and wanted to keep them as we refreshed our kitchen. We met Tracey at a home show and set up an appointment for him to come give us an estimate. As part of this visit he picked out the most worn door in the kitchen and refinished it on the spot. A couple of weeks later we had the entire kitchen redone. The cabinets now sparkle and look like they were newly installed. The entire process took less than 8 hours! As the finish dried we noted a few spots where it had completely soaked into the wood grain. As promised, Tracey returned when we called and touched uo the spots that needed it. We are big fans and believers. If you have wood that needs refinishing Gleam Guard is who you should call,"

Furniture Refinishing questions, answered by experts

No. Once you apply refinishing oil, it will continue to seep into the wood, making it difficult or impossible to refinish over top of it. Since the product contains an oil that’s meant to penetrate existing finishes, almost anything you put on top of it will bring the previous layer of stain with it. If you plan to refinish your cabinets more than once, it’s a good idea to go with the traditional method of sanding before applying a new finish to the surface.

Wood filler is used to fix imperfections or damaged interior sections of wood on items like cabinets, door frames, and even laminate floors or countertops. It contains wood byproducts like sawdust mixed with water or solvent, which helps bind to wood and dry pretty quickly.

This depends on the furniture. It’s certainly fine for wood, metal, or composite materials to get wet. The same cannot be said for affiliated cushions and coverings. Many of these adjacent items claim to be water-resistant, but poorly-made accessories take longer to dry, leaving plenty of time for mold to grow. Keep an eye on how your furniture stands up to rain before going in with a pressure washer.

If your couch is damaged, you are not out of options. You might try fixing it on your own, bring in a furniture repair specialist, or opt to get rid of it responsibly. Depending on its condition, you could donate, sell, recycle, or drop it off at a local scrap facility.

Yes. A good mixture to condition your leather is made from one tablespoon of natural baby soap, a splash of vinegar, and 2 cups of warm water. Mix these ingredients in a bowl and use a microfiber cloth to rub it into the leather in small circles.

You can apply the same technique with a mixture of one part vinegar and two parts linseed oil. Once you’ve applied this to leather with a cloth, let it sit for 10 minutes before buffing with a small cloth.
