"This company has the best staff! We have had them out 2 different times for different systems and each tech has been super at their job! Today, Nate came to fix electrical issues and while here we had him check a few other electrical items as well. He left us with a fixed home and happy with his services! Top notch, we would absolutely say!!"

"We recently had some electrical updates to our home and Scott did a great job! He is professional, knowledgeable and courteous. We learned a lot from him and depend on the work he has done, he wants to make sure it s done right. He is easy to talk to and we asked many questions. His customer service is awesome! We will be calling him for all future electrical projects and highly recommend him."

"This company is obviously nationwide and hires local contractors.  I trusted Agies List that all contractors are licensed, bonded and have background checks.  This person was a handyman and not qualified to wall mount, conceal wires, add electrical outlet.  He  spend five hours in my home, for a job that should have taken two hours and left the area in a disaster.  The TV was hung close to the ceiling, the wires were hanging down from the TV, and the receiver was sitting on top of a plaster box because the cord was too short.  He was obviously not qualified to install TV wall mounts.  I have photos.    As soon as he left, I called Best Buy Geek Squad.  They were able to come out the next day and mount the TV professionally.  I have used the geek squad in Virginia and they are highly qualified.  They charge more than this nationwide company but you get what you pay for.  I called Angies List the day after the disaster and said i did not want to rate this company but I wanted to talk to a manager. No one called me to apologize. I have cancelled my membership.  Do not use this company unless you can be assured that the local contractor is qualified and is licensed.  You should never let anyone into your home that has not had background checks.

"Bob went above and beyond the service I originally hired him to do. I had another problem with my computer which I created but he came to my rescue and he did not even charge me for the additional service"

"There were many things wrong in my computer (my fault and letting grandchildren on computer) Robert was so helpful, gave me many good instructions to keep everything safe, which I have written down, feel like I have a new computer. He was so excellent and experienced, took his time and was meticulous about what needed to be done. He was a pleasure to work with and I will use this company again! Linda Disy"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Before beginning electrical work in Pelican Rapids, secure all required permits and schedule inspections early to prevent delays. Plan projects for spring or fall to avoid weather-related setbacks, and order materials in advance since rural deliveries may take extra time. Evaluate your current electrical panel and system, clear access to work areas, and coordinate with your utility provider if service interruptions are necessary. Notify your insurance company about major upgrades.

Helpful?

For ongoing electrical maintenance in Pelican Rapids, keep a non-contact voltage tester, digital multimeter, and GFCI tester available. Insulated screwdrivers and weather-resistant wire nuts are essential, especially for outdoor electrical upgrades. Moisture absorbers help protect panels in humid basements, while steel wool can deter rodents from accessing wiring. Flashlights, spare batteries, and a list of emergency contacts are also useful for unexpected electrical issues.

Helpful?

Overloading circuits with space heaters during MN winters, neglecting to test GFCI outlets, or failing to address basement humidity can all reduce the longevity of your electrical system. Using extension cords as a substitute for permanent wiring is risky. Ignoring annual panel inspections and leaving outdoor outlets unprotected from snow and ice are common mistakes. Watch for rodent activity, as chewed wires are a frequent issue in rural MN homes.

Helpful?

If your Pelican Rapids home was built before the 1960s or still uses knob-and-tube wiring, two-prong outlets, or a 60-amp panel, it’s likely due for electrical upgrades. Frequent breaker trips, flickering lights during storms, or heavy reliance on power strips are warning signs. Homes with damp basements or well pump systems often need specialized electrical solutions due to local climate and construction factors.

Helpful?

Electrical projects in Pelican Rapids often involve more than just basic materials and labor. Homeowners should anticipate permit and inspection fees, especially for major electrical upgrades. In older homes, unexpected panel or grounding upgrades may be needed to comply with current electrical code. Rural properties sometimes face additional delivery or travel charges. Retrofitting for GFCI or AFCI protection is frequently required, and winter weather can lead to increased labor time.
