"Great. They were able to disconnect our gas appliances at two separate homes and then come back the following day to reconnect them after a move and they were nice enough to charge it as one continuous service call rather than two like most other plumbers I called charge.  They were friendly and knowledgable."

"Been having problems with garbage disposal and the pipes underneath sink loosened up. Decided that didn't want the disposal anymore. Gave Chris a call and got appointment scheduled. They were prompt and got the work done neatly. Removed the disposal and fixed and replacednecessary piping. Also decided to have them remove two soap dispensers that were not functioning and since then I bought two faucet hole plugs and put those in. Everything is working great. They are really good plumbers."

"Everything went perfect. Quick, professional with great results. I have had several projects from washer/dryer fixes, floor laying, plumbing issues and sealing molding to floor gaps. He has done it all. I would not call anyone else at this point. Couldn’t be happier with his work."

"We have spent months looking for right people and I am glad it took so long. The responsiveness, attention to detail, and professionalism have been superior. We had our countertops replaced with granite, replaced sink (including adjustments to plumbing) and garbage disposal, installed marble backsplash, took out 'garage' and had our cabinet doors modified by changing out middle wooden panel with frosted glass. Our kitchen looks amazing. Refreshed and updated; and exactly how we envisioned it."

"Our garbage disposal went out yesterday & we called a few plumbers, all were busy & Roto Rooter wasn't willing to give any kind of a ballpark estimate over the phone, so I went with this guy.  What luck!  He was able to squeeze me into his day, brought over a new disposal and had it installed in a very short time.
He did a great job & was a complete pleasure to work with.  I will hold onto his card, use him again & recommend to others.

"They only sent one person, but the gentleman was very nice, worked quickly, and offered helpful advice on how to mitigate some other problems caused by the flood.  He also worked to get additional drying fans brought in which we appreciated."

"Scheduling was easy...as was the install. Brett and Nick know their job...cleaned up everything...They were recommended by Appliance Smart so picked up the appliances too. Price was fair. I highly recommend this company and will use them in the future for any appliance installation needs."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

Never put glass in the garbage disposal. It can damage your disposal or eject shards of glass out of the disposal and cause injury. If you get broken glass in your garbage disposal, turn it off and cut the power from the breaker, use a tool like pliers or tongs to remove the glass, and use a wet-dry vacuum to remove the remaining glass pieces. If you can’t access the disposal safely, call a garbage disposal repair pro.

As with many appliances, proper maintenance is key to maximizing your garbage disposal’s life span. If everyone in your household is on board with proper care and maintenance, like running water while operating the disposal, you should get plenty of years out of your unit. Avoid putting the wrong food items down the disposal, including pasta, rice, bread, and more.

The two main negatives of garbage disposals are they are a safety hazard in homes with children, and they frequently encounter blockage issues. While they might be annoying to fix and monitor, garbage disposals can significantly lower your trash use and are a great way to dispose of organic waste. While there are negatives, the vast majority of homeowners acknowledge the positives are enough to install a disposal in their home.

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Disconnect the main drain line and P-trap, and then disconnect the dishwasher drain line if you have one connected. You can then unscrew your garbage disposal using a disposal wrench. Just make sure you disconnect the electrical lines before removing your appliance.

Replacing a garbage disposal costs anywhere from $150 to $950, but the average cost is somewhere around $550. There are two types of garbage disposal units, and continuous feed disposals tend to cost more than batch feed disposals. Going for an aluminum garbage disposal is also significantly cheaper than choosing a stainless steel garbage disposal. You'll also need to factor in the horsepower of the motor, labor, and the removal and disposal of your old unit.
