My passion is creating one of a kind custom pieces of furniture. I love to restore vintage pieces. When you restore an older piece of furniture you get a unique custom piece that will last you much longer than a new piece of furniture will! Don't recycle your old furniture restyle it!

"Kim is a gifted upholsterer. I needed three very specific sized and shaped cushions to level off a bucket-seat sofa. The sofa was/is fine for sitting, but I wanted to lie down on it and needed three cushions designed to fit the three seats. Kim had many kinds of leather and fabrics from which to choose and offered them in a no pressure manner. My only regret is that it took a long time to get them because they were a "small order" relatively speaking, and Kim worked them in when she could between her larger orders. Kim does beautiful work and the cushions fit the sofa just the way I hoped they would."

You can use most types of wood for a fireplace mantel. You can use simple veneer plywood. If you prefer solid wood, pine is an affordable option that's easy to cut and finish. Black stains appear on wood furniture when the surface comes in contact with water and metal for an extended time. It creates a chemical reaction that stains your wood black. Products that contain oxalic acid can remove these stains. Its bleach-like qualities can reverse the stains after a few rounds of application.

If your wood stain is still rubbing off after the recommended drying time, it means the pigments didn’t soak into the wood properly and remain on the surface. There are a few possible causes, including applying the stain in hot temperatures, applying too much stain, or failing to wipe off excess before it dries completely.

It is possible to refinish a table without stripping and sanding it by repairing small dents. You’ll use a gel stain, and then put on a wipe-on finish. The downside is this won't result in as smooth and as deep of a finish as if you had stripped the table. Also, any blemishes on your table will remain.
