Sole proprietor owned business since 2001 with eighteen years in business. master mason licensed, bonded and insured. We work as either a two or more crew depending on the job. I, Jeffrey, the owner, do all my own work. We're family here at Cornell Chimney. Three generations now. We are looking forward to service you.

"Cornell was hired to remove, rebuild and reline our chimney. We paid him his down payment , soon after he requested $4500 more to order the liner. He erected scaffold to complete the job, which ended up falling causing damage to our roof along with damage caused from dropping bricks on the roof. 4 months went by with little to no progress. Finally we received notice from his insurance company that he was dropped because of lack of payment. We were forced to higher a new chimney company to complete the job. At that point we found out Cornell had never ordered the liner that we paid for. We asked to have the $4500 returned but never received a response. I would highly recommend not allowing Cornell anywhere near anyone's roof. He is careless and unreliable."

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Most residential roofing projects in Minneapolis are completed within one to seven days, depending on roof size and design complexity. Weather delays are common, particularly during spring storms or unexpected summer rain. Scheduling your project between late spring and early fall helps avoid weather-related setbacks and ensures materials arrive on time, which is important for a smooth roof replacement process.

Helpful?

A new roof in Minneapolis can significantly increase your home’s value and attract buyers who prioritize weather-resistant features. Homes with recent roof replacements using durable materials like metal or architectural shingles stand out, especially in neighborhoods known for harsh winters. Enhanced curb appeal, improved energy efficiency, and reduced risk of water intrusion all contribute to stronger resale appeal in the Minneapolis market.

Helpful?

Before starting a roofing project in Minneapolis, review local building codes and secure all required permits. Choose materials designed for snow and ice, and confirm your contractor’s experience with storm damage repairs. Clear your driveway and yard for easy access, and communicate with neighbors about the project timeline. Planning for unpredictable weather and verifying insurance coverage will help prevent unexpected delays.

Helpful?

In Minneapolis, be cautious of roofing contractors who avoid discussing ice dam prevention, energy efficiency, or storm damage common to the area. Watch for vague timelines, unclear warranty details, or reluctance to provide proof of insurance. If a contractor lacks familiarity with local roofing materials like architectural shingles or doesn’t address snow load requirements, it’s a sign they may not understand Minneapolis’s unique roofing needs.

Helpful?

Completing a roofing project in Minneapolis offers immediate protection from hail, wind, and heavy snow, while also improving your home’s energy efficiency. Over time, a properly installed roof helps prevent ice dams, reduces the risk of storm damage, and supports better insulation. Investing in quality materials suited for Minneapolis’s climate can extend your roof’s lifespan and enhance year-round comfort.
