"Great! When the tech, Randy, is done, he gives us a “tour” of the chimney interior using a closed circuit camera on extension polls connected back to a monitor and computer so we can see for ourselves it’s condition. He vacuums out the fire box and has replaced broken tiles."
"Jerry and his crew were great! We foster a lot of rescue dogs so it was impossible to grow grass in our yard and we were tired of the mud pit every time it rained or snow melted. Turf was a great solution and the dogs love it. Jerry took his time explaining our options that would be best for dogs. They were courteous and fast with installation. Highly recommend them."
"Greg, Jason and team were fantastic to work with from start to finish. We were impressed with the attention to detail and desire to ensure our expectations were met. The team throughout the project cleaned up at the end of each day and did not create excess damage to the rest of the yard surrounding project area. Our completed paver patio, fire pit area and slab stone steps was above our expectations and we continue to receive many compliments. We love our new outdoor oasis!!! Thank you Crosstown Concrete."
"Al and his team are excellent to work with from the design stage, through installation and invoicing. They are knowledgeable, respectful and just all around great guys. They actually came in under the estimate so they watch your budget closely and only bill you for the actual items and services they provide. I would highly recommend them! "
"They did a great job during a very hot part of the summer regrading around the house and installing the swale, paver walkway and removing the stump. The job we thought was overpriced but had high expectations for the quality of the work due to the money. We wanted it done right. The company was responsive in all our requests. The only disappointment was we had to call them back multiple times to repair the sprinklers. We have had some heavy rains and the swale and pop up drain is working as designed. The workers were very careful and respectful. They do good work but you will pay top dollar for their services. "
"Houston did an â excellentâ job with our service upgrade (new 200 Amp panel, new exterior items including meter/pole, new grounding, etc.) as well as wiring for new and upgraded outlets, etc. Houston was always incredibly pleasant and responsive, and he also has great insight on best approaches to everything. I would recommend him for any work you need and we will definitely be asking him to do work we need in the future."
"Great job installing ceiling bathroom vent in a difficult area. Explained process whole way thru and did great job keeping work site clean. Knowledgeable and fair price for the work."
"Jason created a great plan for the space around our home after a major addition. His bid was competitive. Jason was onsite with his team for most of the project overseeing the installation. They laid plastic and river rock in areas along with mulch in others. Plantings were then added. We are really happy with the finished product and are planning to use Jason in the spring to do additional plantings in other areas of our yard and to install a water feature."
Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts
Yes, you can close off a fireplace both temporarily and permanently with extremely wide price ranges. Temporary solutions involve fireplace plugs that can be inflated to block air and deflated to open the fireplace, covers, and boards. Permanent methods of shutting off fireplaces usually involve bricking up the fireplace or covering it with drywall. No matter the method, it’s probably best to hire a professional.
Regular HVAC filter changes, deep cleaning, and air quality monitoring help maintain a healthy environment.
Yes, it is generally safe to have a fire pit on a deck, but you must adhere to building codes and take several safety precautions. For both built-in and freestanding models, you must use a heat-resistant barrier, such as a fire pit pad or heat shield, between the pit and the deck. Additionally, consider the weight of the fire pit and ensure your deck can structurally support it, reinforcing it if necessary. The fire pit must also be positioned a safe distance from your house, particularly from materials like vinyl siding, to prevent heat damage.
Depending on who’s doing the estimating, about 22,000 to 25,000 chimney fires happen each year in the United States. Given the fact that millions of Americans have fireplaces (and chimneys), that means chimney fires aren’t exactly common—but they’re not rare, either. Since they’re so dangerous, it’s important to take precautions to prevent them.
Poorly designed and incorrectly installed outlets can create an electrical fire hazard, as do some phone chargers and adapters that plug into these outlets. However, most outlets are perfectly safe as long as they remain in working condition. Keep an eye on what you are plugging into the outlet and stay alert for signs of outlet malfunction, like sparks, burning smell, or frequent circuit tripping.
