"Working with Trevor and his guys was AWESOME! He came out to our house, got the measurements, inquired about everything we were looking for in our new deck. He provided multiple options (Cedar, Composite, Combination of both types of materials) and provided his insights to help us make the best choice for us.  I got multiple bids for the job and his was by far the best. There was another builder who was trying to charge an additional $6,000 for the exact same deck. He completed the plans for us and stayed in email and phone contact with us the entire time.
He got the work underway a month before we were supposed to start, after checking in to make sure that was alright with us. Trevor and his guys did a wonderful job using a Herringbone pattern on the decking and really nice wood work for the railings and stairwell. They used routers to smooth the edges and added some nice detail. There isn't one thing we don't like about our new deck.
As someone with limited experience in construction, I really appreciated that he had the expertise and ethics to do the best job possible. I would refer this company to anyone looking for an honest, hard working, attention to detail oriented builder. It is evident that these gentlemen love what they do and they are excellent at it.
I appreciate the hard work and will refer anyone who will listen to MN Construction and Property Management!

"I recently had the pleasure of working with Plumbline Builders on a major renovation of my home. I was very impressed with their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to customer satisfaction. Roger and his team (especially Jeff and Drew) were excellent at communicating with me throughout the project and kept me updated on their progress, answered all of my questions, and made sure that I was happy with every decision. They were also very flexible and accommodating, and they worked with me to stay within my budget. The quality of workmanship was also outstanding. The team was very skilled and experienced, and they took great pride in their work. My home looks amazing, and I’m happy with the results. Overall, I highly recommend Plumbline to anyone looking for a reliable and professional contractor. They’re a great team to work with!"

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Remodeling a house is often less expensive than building a new house. You can expect to pay an average of $100 per square foot when you are remodeling. The cost to build a house averages about $150 per square foot. When remodeling, though, some rooms cost more than $100 per square foot and some cost less. Use a home renovation cost estimator to accurately estimate your remodeling costs.

Building a new home can be more expensive than buying an existing one, depending on the housing market in your area. Many homeowners still find that building a new house is worth the investment as they can choose the exact layout they want, as well as to choose their own floors, wall coverings, appliances, and finishes. If you live close enough to the build site, you can also stop by to check on the builder’s progress, which can provide some peace of mind that the project is worth it.

One of the best ways to negotiate with a homebuilder is to forgo price reductions. Instead, negotiate over upgrades and incentives, as many builders are more willing to go down that road than to decrease their own fee. Even if they were willing to take a cut, a reputable homebuilder often knows their worth, so a willingness to negotiate could be a red flag. Beyond that, builders are typically willing to negotiate closing costs instead of offering a discount on the base price.

It is a good idea to check in with your local city and state regulations before committing to building a shipping container home no matter where you live. This concept is pretty new across the country, and many places won’t let you build one.

The International Code Council (ICC) offers guidelines for home builders on the safe use of ISO intermodal shipping containers repurposed as building components, which can be helpful to review when planning or designing a shipping container home.

Construction typically takes 3-6 months, including site preparation and assembly.
