I am not confident in my interior design skills and needed help selecting furniture and furnishings for my living room. Susan and Michelle were great to work with. They listened to me. I am rather inarticulate when it comes to describing my vision. Susan and Michelle were able to interpret my nonsense and I ended up with a lovely living room. They were super responsive. They provided clear direction regarding purchasing etc. This made the process easy for me. I was very pleased with their services and will recommend Susan & Michelle to anyone in need of home design services

Michelle and Susan were wonderful to work with on our basement project. They listened to understand our vision and quickly provided a project plan defining the scope, cost, and timing. The design options were better than anticipated given the unique space covering approx. 900 sqft. Also, Michelle and Susan not only share strong knowledge on products and furnishings but also managed the delivery lead time and cost tradeoffs. Start to finish, the design through delivery was quicker than expected and we are thrilled with the space. We look forward to future projects with this team

DESIGN Q & A
4.0
Design Q & A (Paul) was the catalyst for making decisions we had procrastinated on for years. He generated many alternative ideas and designs based on what we said we wanted and what he thought we might need, with numerous critical questions along the way. Also feedback on detail design choices and placement. Multiple design cycles. The designs we ended up with, while not actual blueprints, were detailed enough for professional remodelers to use. We moved a bedroom from upstairs to basement, doubled the upstairs bathroom size, grew the primary bedroom, added a walk-in closet, and repaired the basement flood damage. Many things we should have done long ago. Paul got us going to a better place

Jason did a great job for us. He installed a bifold door in our basement and also removed and replaced a door with a cat door to the laundry room. He also installed a keypad door for our garage. He did a fast and thorough job! The next part of the job was removing ancient carpeting from the 3-season front porch and then sanding, staining, and sealing the porch floor. There were a couple of setbacks in the sanding and Jason made sure he got the quality of the finish up to his high standards. We are so pleased with the results which have taken our front porch to a whole new level! Would definitely recommend his work to others

Northrup Remodeling, Roofing & Exteriors
5.0
I chose Northrup after checking out their interior work on their website, and I do not regret it! They helped update my entire main floor, with some gorgeous trim work, new flooring in my kitchen, and refreshed paint, and I've fallen in love with my home again. Nick and Tommy were prompt, polite, and fantastic to work with. It was clear that their entire team wanted to take the time to get the job done right, and I couldn't be happier

Northrup Remodeling, Roofing & Exteriors

In August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete an extensive remodeling project (attached garage, master bathroom, bedroom conversion into a walk-in closet and 2nd floor laundry room, new driveway, backyard brick patio, siding for the entire house, exterior window painting and, repairs on a number of “deferred-maintenance” items within the house). Ron Burgess was the project manager. Northrup Remodeling did an outstanding job. More specifically, Ron Burgess and all of the subcontractors that he assigned to the project were professional, courteous, dedicated and delivered a product that exceeded my expectations in a number of instances. Ron worked tirelessly behind the scenes to coordinate all of the work, was incredibly responsive to all my questions and, provided me with invaluable advice and insight. In a number of instances, Ron’s insight and advice spared me from wasting money on unnecessary work and yielded aesthetic outcomes that were better than I could have imagined. / / / / / / / / / DETAIL / / / / / / In August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete the following: • Tear down a detached two car garage and rebuild an attached two car garage in its place; • Tie the new garage into a pre-existing mudroom (entailed a small expansion of the existing mudroom); • Full demolition and rebuild of the master bathroom; • Conversion of a bedroom into a walk-in closet for the master bedroom and a second floor laundry room; • One window replacement; • Installation of new siding on the entire house; • Exterior painting of all windows, chimneys and brick facade; • Replacement of brick driveway with a concrete driveway; • Removal and reinstallation of brick patio in the back of the house; • Demolition and replacement of front brick walkway; • Repair of deferred-maintenance items (railing and balusters, screen door, foyer tile and grout lines, door handles, interior doors, kitchen sink, cabinet drawers, etc.) Interior construction concluded by January 2018. Following a break for winter, the remaining exterior work was completed by July 2018. Ron Burgess was the Northrup supervisor for the entire project. My experience with Northrup was fantastic and working with Ron was a joy. Ron brought to bear the skills and abilities of subcontractors that provided a high level of quality work and professionalism. At the outset of the project, Ron set out a timetable for the start and expected completion dates for each part of the project. Ron started the project on time and kept everything moving along so that the project finished within expectations. Moreover, any time I had a question, Ron was readily available and promptly addressed any issues to my full satisfaction. Ron also brought to bear the expertise of Kathleen Winter (interior designer) and Richard Groh (architect). Ron, Kathleen and Richard worked extraordinarily well together during the project. In every instance, they were able to suggest great ideas, integrate the goals/desires I had for the finished product and, most important, they dissuaded me from making certain design/material choices that I now realize would have been a huge mistake. Throughout the entire project, I was very impressed with the subcontractors Ron selected for the work. In every one of my interactions with the subcontractors, I found them to be professional, courteous, excited about their work and committed to delivering an outcome that in many instances surpassed my expectations. When each subcontractor started their part of the project, they stayed on the project until it was completed – in a number of instances, working far later in the day than I would have reasonably expected or, working on the weekends

"Sue was prompt in answering my request for help and we soon worked out a meeting. She has a good program to get you started in the initial consultation and you can take it from there on your own or continue on working with her for help. In the few hours of my first meeting she showed great ideas that saved me thousands of $$ literally in the first meeting by doing one thing versus a total remodel. From there we met for furniture and accessory shopping and then a meeting for her to come back and put things together. Have had many compliments on her work at our home and I am very happy with the results! Thank you Sue!

"Robin is fantastic. I was in the process of cleaning out and preparing my father-in-laws' home for sale. He and his family had lived there for nearly 50 years. It had good bones, but was terribly dated. Robin came and advised me on what colors to paint every room and encouraged me to have all of the doors and trim enameled in white. She also gave me advice on what items in the house should be updated/upgraded for the least amount of money with the greatest return. I put new knobs on the kitchen cabinets, new toilet and sink in two bathrooms, put contractor grade light fixtures throughout the house, swapped out all light switch, outlet plates, and air registers.
After all of the upgrading and painting, Robin then staged the house in such a way that helped potential buyers envision how they might use the space. Every item from rugs, furniture, pillows, accessories, lamps, pictures etc was perfect for each room and the house no longer looked like "grandpa's", but like a "pottery barn" showcase.
Before implementing Robin's plan, real estate agents estimated that the house would sell for around $250,000-$260,000. After doing the painting and the upgrades and having her stage the place, the house sold in 19 days with a bidding war for $315,000.
I would say she was WELL WORTH THE COST. No doubt about it!
In terms of some details. She has a team of other stagers in the area who share a common warehouse of furniture. She uses a professional moving company to bring in the furniture and to take it out. She promptly answers her phone and returns messages. Time to set up was about 4 hours. The average cost per room was $200 and we bought a two month plan. I would recommend the two months because it helps with the bank appraisal and inspection.

"Communication was good, I received exactly what I asked and paid for. The room turned out beautifully. New windows, doors, railing, insulation, hvac, electric, wood work."

"They did an exceptional job. The cabinets were beautiful. They even suggested and created a custom back for one of the cabinets that allowed us to slide open the cabinet wall to access an electrical outlet hidden by the new installation. You'd never know it was there and was a great addition since we did need it to power some A/V equipment.

"We had a limited budget and space when remodeling our kitchen, but hiring Gail to help with the design saved us time and money. She understood that money was limited and was willing to create a design using IKEA cabinets. We had no idea how to do the space planning for the space to make it really function well, and she came up with ideas that we never would have considered with detailed renderings. She will oversee the project from beginning to end if needed, but since our budget was tight, we only hired her for the design work, and now the kitchen is not only beautiful but extremely functional. She also gave us referrals for a carpenter, electrician and plumber who were all great to work with. We plan to recommend Fresh Space Design to friends who needs design work done.
