"I had new front steps and a patio by my back yard installed by Riteway Concrete. Mike was very punctual on work days and answered all my questions and is clearly very capable in concrete work. We made several adjustments in the initial plan which made for beautiful finished surfaces and solved some unforeseen issues. I have already recommended Riteway to my friends and appreciate Mike's attention to detail and expertise. Thank-you."

"John and his team were great!, From beginning to end the process went extremely well. Price was fair and work was the highest quality. Variety and selection of products makes our yard really stand out They arrived early and we're done in 1 day. My husband was amazed at how organized and efficient they were. I would absolutely use them again in the future and my neighbor has them coming to seed.

"Greene construction did a great job from beginning to end.  Their salesperson was personable, prompt and answered all my questions.  They did the job in one day, digging the hole with a small machine, removing the dirt, cutting the hole in the concrete, installing the window, framing the inside space with pine, and cleaning up after themselves.  Everything went exactly as expected and we absolutely love the light that now comes in the basement and the added safety in case of a house fire.  After a pretty hard rain I saw no signs of leaking.

"I had a great experience with Adin at CB Concrete and Masonry. He was the second contractor hired for a concrete job, and I’m so glad I found him. His communication was great, was able to get me written invoices/quotes, and handled all communication with the city. They got our huge concrete project done in two days and did such a good job we hired him back for a retaining wall."

"Hoffman went above and beyond to replace my roof following hail damage. State Farm initially agreed to replace a small portion. Hoffman documented and chalk marked damage. State Farm replaced entire roof! Job was completed professionally and timely. Thanks"

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.

Sawing your hot tub into more manageable chunks so it can be lifted easily into a truck takes several hours. Generally, 2.5 hours for smaller hot tubs and around 4 hours for larger ones with the help of one to two people. If money isn't a concern and you want to skip the physical labor, you can hire a pro to get the job done.

To maintain custom or fabricated metal structures and extend their lifespan and appearance, perform regular cleaning, apply rust prevention treatments, and use protective coatings.

There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:

  • Are you licensed and certified?

  • How long have you been in the welding business?

  • Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?

  • Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?

  • Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

  • How long do you expect my welding project to take?

  • What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?

The cost to weld aluminum averages about $14 to $22 per pound. The type of metal factors into the overall cost of any welding project due to the cost of the materials and the expertise required to work with it. Some of the most common metals used by welders include:

  • Magnesium alloy: $7–$16 per pound

  • Low-carbon steel: $11–$12 per pound

  • Stainless steel: $13–$15 per pound

  • Copper/brass: $24–$29 per pound

  • Cast iron: $38–$79 per pound

  • Titanium: $60–$85 per pound
