"Justin installed some interior doors and wood trim in our room. He did a great job on our project! Justin has great attention to detail and was very thorough in completing all tasks. I would definitely recommend Justin for any carpentry project."

"Found Sentri on Angi. Jeanette and Violet were very pleasant and efficient in getting a contractor to me in the time frame needed. The contractor was excellent and the roof looks great! I would definitely work with them again if I had additional projects."
"They were efficient in terms of the process. They sent the pad in a reasonable time frame. I did have to call a couple times. It took about a month to deliver. They sent the material which was packed nicely. There were 2 issues: 1-the glue or adhesive they used smelled badly. I had to put in my garage for a couple weeks until that 2-every corner was protruded, the table pad corners were too sharp on the mat .which poses risks with small children. I called about that and they said to put some tape over it. The manager called back to discuss the issue was. She suggested that I try to fix. it. The company might have done something to repair if I had followed up."
"Overall, very good. To protect ourselves from a difficult neighbor, we designed a fence that could be built and repaired from our property only. Construction was to be in two phases, first, the posts were to be set, then we would excavate and build a small retaining wall, and then phase two was filling in the actual fence. Only Artistic Fence (Amy Nosebush) took the time to really understand the compexity of the project, its level of difficulty, and our high expectations of work quality. Accordingly, they had the highest bid, but we expected to pay for the work we felt the project required. The fence ultimately met most of our expectations. The low points: 1) On day one, as I was leaving for work, I noticed that one of the concrete forms for the posts was out of alignment. I talked to the foreman, and he was immediately over-the-top angry and said if I were going to criticize his work "every five minutes", he was quitting the job. I said little more, left, but called the owner to ask to meet at the house. When I later checked the rest of the work, most of the forms were in line and the posts themselves looked really good. I met the owner, explained why the misaligned form was a problem (it meant the retaining wall would be crooked), and he conceded the problem. We agreed to continue and he would supervise more closely. 2) Before we built the retaining wall, it rained alot. We discovered sink holes around some of the posts and realized the rain washed dirt into poorly compacted soil. Most of the posts moved, not from wet ground, but because of poor compacting. Rather than complain again, I compacted the dirt, trying to keep the posts plumb. One is crooked, my fault, and of course I notice it all the time. The high points: 1) To finish the fence, the owner assigned a particular person (Chad I think). His work is virtually perfect and would make any finish or trim carpenter proud. 2) The fence is now two winters and a summer old, and becuase of Chad's careful work, not a board is warped. Except for the expected weathering and shrinking, it looks as thorough it was just built. We highly recommend Artistic Fence. No one else would have put up with us. We're sorry we couldn't rate them all A. "
"Really can't say enough good things about my experience with Cady Handyman Services. After reading about them on Angie's List, I contacted the company via email and received a quick reply. Tom came out to give me a quote on the job and was professional and thorough, while also being friendly and helpful. He took pictures and was nice enough to do a little patching even before they got the job. Jim the owner was extremely helpful as he worked along with my insurance company behind the scenes.
After all systems were go for the job, the work was scheduled within a couple of days. Tom came out with a young helper, Danny, and I felt comfortable around both of them. The materials they used were high quality, and they were willing to spend the time necessary to do the job right. They completed the work for the price they quoted, even though it took longer than expected because of some problems with the way my original door had been installed. They were more than willing to help with a couple of little odds and ends I needed. Afterwards, they cleaned up thoroughly and put everything together much better than it was before.
I have already recommended Cady to my friends, several of whom are single ladies who need help with a variety of jobs around the house. I plan to have them build some shelving in my garage and in a closet.
I see them as trustworthy, reliable, and conscientious. They take pride in their work and are fun to be around."
"The crew was polite and arrived on time. The glass turned out clean. However, the frames and screen edges were wiped down poorly. Had to ask multiple times for them to re-do screen frames since there was still dirt remaining. After asking a few times, the response I received was, "We typically don't get that dirt up, we just wipe down the frames." Disappointing since I asked when scheduling service if they were able to provide a thorough cleaning, as I had mentioned that the windows had not been cleaned in a while. Had to end up cleaning the frames ourselves. Disappointing to pay for a service and still have to do part of the job afterwards."
"TC Upholstery was supportive and creative in helping to select the right fabrics and designs, they easily worked within my time frame, finishing much earlier than scheduled, and they proactively called me several times to inform me of progress. The work is fabulous, including touching up the wooden finishes. I could not be happier."
"Hal's work is top-notch but I grew increasingly frustrated with the timing and inconsistency of his work habits. His was one of several estimates I received and basically he said he would beat any estimate I received. The difference is that everyone else was going to use cedar and he only works with pressure-treated Southern yellow pine, which is less than half the cost of cedar. I was unsure of the durability and longevity of that product so I did extensive research online. Still unsure, I drive around the Twin Cities to see other jobs Hal did that gave stood the test of time and I decided to move forward. Clearly, the way he builds his fences require considerably more manual labor than those built with cedar posts and pickets so essentially instead of paying for the higher cost of cedar, you pay for increased labor costs. Unfortunately, Hal isn't as going as predicting when he will get jobs complete as he is completing them well. He was over a month late in getting started and I repeatedly had to call him to inquire about the delay. It was quite frustrating but since I didn't absolutely need the fence done by a certain date, I decided to practice patience. Once he finally started, most days he and his helper only worked 4 hours so the project dragged on far longer than I thought it would. Admittedly, there were a couple of weather-related days but other times when it was a perfect day, they wouldn't show up and I would give no idea when they were coming again. After I told him I really needed to have him be more communicative, he was and within a short time after that conversation, he completed the fence. The fence is beautiful and appears very sturdy. We'll see how it withstands time and weather but for now I am very happy with it. Hal does beautiful work but if you are on a strict timeline I would not recommend working with him. If you are flexible and don't mind putting more effort into communication, he is a great person to work with. "
Building involves setting foundation posts, framing with durable wood, adding roofing support, and protecting from elements with water-resistant finishes.
Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.
Framing with metal studs can be significantly faster than using wooden studs, provided you have some experience working with the material. While you can use virtually instant pneumatic nailers with wood, metal requires installing screws. However, because metal is lighter, straighter, usually comes cut-to-length, and doesn't require sorting for the best pieces, you can save significant time using metal instead of wood.
The cost to convert a carport into a garage averages about $22,000, ranging from about $15,000 and $55,000. Additional cost factors to consider include size, time of year, and how much of the carport you can reuse. Other cost factors include the kinds and amounts of materials used, such as:
Add insulation: $1 per square foot
Add drywall: $1–$3 per square foot
Add window: $450–$2,000 per window
Add outlets: $75–$500
Add garage door: $250–$11,200
Enclose framing: $5–$13 per square foot
Replace roofing: $1,000–$2,000
Framing a house with steel generally takes less time—around five to eight weeks—than most building materials. The steel components can also be made quickly off-site and manufactured with pre-punched holes for running piping and electrical wiring, which will lessen the prep work and extra labor during construction.
