"Great to work with. Was able to get the closet racks installed the way I wanted. Racks secured by wall studs (for stability) in addition to the typical drywall mounting. Steve J. was great to work with and efficient."

"We had a very challenging lower corner cabinet in our kitchen. Matt & Jaime went to work right away designing something that would utilize the space as much as possible. During their visit we also talked about our closet in the kitchen and how we could make it more functional. A great design with adjustable shelves as well as some pull-out shelves turned this space into a large functional Pantry, it turned out great! We're super please with their work and couldn't be happier to support a local hard working Family Business."

"Steve was great. Very professional. Installed shelving in a hallway closet of my condo for shoe-handbag storage. Looks great. Steve and his helper were done in under an hour. Highly recommend!"

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"This company and technicians (shout out to Bart Gaddis) have done a fantastic job. They promptly come to my house every quarter and are able to come in between for maintenance visits free of charge. I live on the water so the pests are constant and having Insight Pest Solutions come on a regular basis has been amazing for inside and outside our home- highly recommend!"

"We were at a loss with what to do with our things we knew we weren’t going to move with us. A friend recommended we talk to Laura Miller with Miller Estate Solutions. I am soooo glad we did!  Laura and her crew are AWESOME!!  We moved what we wanted and Laura with her crew took care of the rest.  She is extremely knowledgeable, kind and very thorough. Her crew was also extremely respectful and courteous. It was such a relief to know that everything was being taken care of and we didn't have to hassle with any of it. We are still getting checks for the things Laura arranged to sell!  Would HIGHLY recommend Miller Estate Solutions and Services to everyone we know. "

"Don has great! I had a bunch of miscellaneous projects to complete including replacing a light fixture in the garage, shelves in a closet, a new door for the fuse box, etc. The work was great and he got it all done much faster than I thought possible. The only complaint I had was that scheduling was a challenge and my information about the job never made it to Don himself. Regardless, I highly recommend!

Closets questions, answered by experts

You can turn an adjacent room into a walking closet by just rearranging the room. This means removing the furniture and adding racks and an island in the center if you have that in your budget. Houses with two bedrooms connected to each other are great options for large walk-in closets that don't require any structural changes or much building whatsoever.

Although you can complete a closet frame in just an afternoon, finishing the entire closet will take a few days to a week. However, that’s still not as much as the average time it takes to remodel a closet, which can take anywhere from several weeks to more than a month. That’s because you also have to consider the time it will take to demolish the existing space, plan a new design, order materials, and actually install it.

Walk-in closets are always the biggest and can easily be more than 100 square feet. Primary bedroom closets, even if not walk-ins, are the second largest category in most homes and sit between 30 and 80 square feet. Linen closets, utility closets, and built-in closets are smaller and, depending on their usage, tend to be between 10 and 50 square feet.

On average, building a custom or built-in closet costs around $2,100. However, the total price can range from as little as $500 for a simple DIY project to $6,000 or more for a large, high-end custom closet. Most projects typically fall between $1,500 and $5,000.

The final cost depends on several factors, including the closet's size, type, materials, and features. Here is a general cost breakdown by closet type:

  • Reach-in closet: $500 to $1,500

  • Walk-in closet: $750 to $5,000

  • Wardrobe: $2,000 to $6,000 or more

Choosing a prefabricated closet system is generally less expensive than a fully custom build. The scope of design and construction services will also significantly impact the price.

Costs depend on material, customization level, and additional features like lighting or sliding doors.
