"A1 and Andrew were great. Returned my call right away, gave me a fair bid, what I should expect, and a date to come out. They called ahead of time, and did quality work. Don’t hesitate to use them. I got lucky. I found out I had lung cancer and did a radon test. Don’t hesitate to do a radon test, and use A1 if appropriate. Thanks."

"Ron's a nice guy, knows his business and does a good job. After completion of his work he cleans up the work area before leaving. He guarantees his work and runs a radon test to assure the radon level is acceptable. Thanks Ron and thank you Home Advisor for putting the two of us together."

"Rapid Restoration was excellent to work with on a water damage issue I had discovered. They worked with me on cleaning an affected surface as well as air quality testing so we could have exact information for the best health of the home. They were able to get started the same day and were professional and wonderful to work with from the first phone call through the completion of the job. Chad is very knowledgeable and his crew was great. It turned out that we did not need to take additional steps for remediation because the diagnostics came back without concerns. I appreciated that this team had the skill and abilities to provide information and work up possible plans from "best case to worst case scenario" then take the most fitting action. We found a perfect result for the home at much lower cost than could have been the case without such an honest exam. I had two other companies out to look and Rapid stood out in terms of timing, communication, assessment, and an efficient plan. I couldn't be happier and will definitely call them again and highly recommend them!"

"Very nice company to work with. Wayne came by within a day to do an estimate which was in line with others I checked. We had radon levels according to my AirThings Radon Detector of between 5-8 pCi/L; as we have a fairly large footprint and no drain tile they could hook into he suggested a larger fan unit just to be on the safe side. Estimate was $1400 with the larger fan and a sump seal. Wayne answered all of my questions clearly and responded to email when I had additional questions. I had to wait about 2 weeks on the install as they were fairly busy. Roger the co-owner handles the installs and he came along with an additional helper. They took about 4 hours on the job and did some nice work including some fancy snaking of the exhaust to get it above the roof line. Wayne they handles the final test and he came by about 2 weeks later to do the testing. He ran a 48 hour test that yielded an average reading of around 1.8 pCi/L - I had hoped for a bit better reading but it was well under the 4 recommended by EPA guidelines so I couldn't really complain. I noted that the AirThings detector I had gave a very similar average reading. The good news is that over time I'm seeing the average reading on my meter improving and I show a long term reading now of about 1 pCi/L and often have short term daily readings close to 1/2 of that. Overall very pleased with the work and results."

"Sam was on time for the estimate appointment that was scheduled. He was very friendly and professional. He was not pushy in any form. On the day of the scheduled service appointment he showed up ready to work and was again very friendly and easy to communicate with. He got the work done in a very reasonable amount of time and his electrician showed up on time and was the same. We will have our after mitigation radon testing done and I will update my review then."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

No, air purifiers are not an effective way to reduce or remove radon. Radon is a radioactive, inert gas that cannot be filtered by standard air purifiers, which are designed to capture particulates like dust and mold. While an air purifier can improve indoor air quality by removing other pollutants, it should not be relied upon for radon. The only effective solution for high radon levels is a dedicated radon mitigation system.

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is present everywhere, complete avoidance is impossible. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking preventative measures if your home's radon levels are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is naturally present everywhere, it is impossible to avoid entirely. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking action to reduce radon levels if your home's test results are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.

Radon detection is crucial as prolonged exposure to radon gas, a leading cause of lung cancer, poses significant health risks in residential environments.

You can vent radon out of your house sometimes by simply opening a window, but it won’t remove the source, and will likely rise above recommended levels quickly. A professional will be needed to assess your home, and determine the best strategy for radon removal. Active radon sump pumps and soil depressurization systems are often used to forcefully vent the radon from your home.
