Customers say: True professional

"We loved working with Dwight! We have had the opportunity to work with him on both residential (our home) and commercial projects and couldn't be happier with the results. At home, he helped us to make our dream a reality. His designs were creative and well thought-out and his consultations before and during the construction were VERY helpful. We hope to work with him again soon!"

"We live in a 1970s colonial where the kitchen and living/dining rooms were separated by a wall with a doorway.  Watching so many shows on HGTV, we wanted an open concept where we could entertain guests.  Joe, the owner came in and gave us a solid quote, not the cheapest or most expensive.  Based off of previous Angie's List recommendations we made a great decision to go with Seamless Transitions Construction (STC).
Once the project started, it was the little things that made for a very positive experience.  STC treated our house as if it were their own.  With a wall coming down between the old kitchen and dining room, and much of the area being taken down to the studs, there was a ton of dust.  STC built a temporary wall between the construction area and our family room with a door to keep the dust out.  At the end of each day, STC fully swept the construction area as we had to walk through it to get to the upstairs.  The range was kept operational for a good portion of the project until the point where the wiring was removed.  A temporary kitchen sink was installed so we could still do small amounts of dishes, etc.
Removing a load-bearing wall to open up the area proved easier than expected.  STC strictly followed code and passed inspection with no issues.  Of course there would be plumbing that would need moving.  Supply lines cannot go in an outside wall, so STC figured out a way to build the lines into an archway that improved the look of the space.
STC did just about all of the major work from rough construction, removing the load-bearing wall, drywall, installing hard wood flooring, installing cabinets, painting, plumbing, electrical, appliance installation, etc.  I should mention that installing trim work for an older house without a straight wall proved to be a challenge that STC was able to handle with ease.  About the only task that was fully outsourced was granite counter fabrication and installation.
As with any major construction/renovation project, we had changes that we wanted made on the fly.  We had set the kitchen up with only one sink, but did not foresee that the distance between the gas cooktop and the sink would be as far as it was.  We ended up moving the location of the under cabinet microwave and putting another sink in its place.  Obviously this left us with the wrong type of cabinets in both spots (both were already installed along with the counter top, but STC was able to make it look as though it was the original layout all along.
I would highly recommend STC for your kitchen renovation.  All of the employees were very professional and friendly and made the experience and enjoyable one!

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Yes. Foundation walls are always load-bearing.

Yes, they offer plans for repairs or reinforcements to address issues.

Failure to compact the soil during construction is the most common cause of leaning retaining walls. In addition, poor drainage can lead to excessive water pressure behind a retaining wall, pushing against it until it begins to move forward away from the soil it is holding back.

The early stages of building a house are harder than the later stages; laying the foundation and framing the house are two of the most challenging steps. However, it varies for everyone. Some people have difficulty installing HVAC, plumbing, and electricity, while others find it harder to plan the house and secure the necessary permits.

The process involves initial consultation, concept development, detailed planning, regulatory approvals, and integration of contractor work for project execution.
