Small jobs welcome

"After posting our job on Angie's List. We were contacted by Jeston of Handyman of Ann Arbor. He arrived at our residence that afternoon and provided us with a quote and time line for completion of the job. The job was completed as promised and we are extremely pleased with the outcome. Jeston worked closely with us to answer all questions and explain the process and time frame to complete the project."

"I called them after seeing them at my neighbors house. Actually, I emailed with questions and they were very responsive. I felt they knew what they were talking about when they emailed me several problems it could be regarding the dishwasher. In the email I asked about any fees up front and they did say there is a $49 fee for an estimate IF we didn't do the work. I called the next business day and the lady on the phone was very friendly. She even said that if there was other plumbing that we wanted to be looked at while the guy was there to have it looked at since we were paying the $49 estimate fee. The plumber came on time and i showed him more things i wanted looked at. He gave me prices for 3 things. The toilet issue he told me it probably needed a flapper and i could do it myself. The other issue that i was concerned about from what another plumber did, I had him give me a price since the "other" plumber didn't do it to code when he said he would. This plumber gave me a price of $155. he said i could easily do it myself even though i am not very handy at fixing things. So, i decided to just get the dishwasher line fixed and the valve to the humidifier. As soon as he put on the arrestor for the dishwasher, the vibration stopped!! While I don't want the plumber to get into trouble for telling me I could do the other two issues myself, but he saved me several hundred dollars more. That is why i would come back to them!! Not everyone can afford $500 + in repairs. He saved me about $200-300 dollars and that makes me happy. The only thing I had a problem with is if you are charging $49 to look at repair and if we go ahead to do the work, that $49 should come off the bill. Other than that, I will still be calling them back as most plumbers still charge to come out and they charge less to look at your repair then most companies"

"I had RNL remove kitchen cabinets, and install new ones. When the old cabinets were taking out they discovered a leak years ago that was fixed by someone else but not correctly and had created a lot of mold and mildew. Tom and his crew being the professionals that they are, made sure all mold was removed, and everything was done correctly and safely. The part I liked was them explaining how they were taking steps to insure I didn't have this problem again. How reassuring that I can breathe easy knowing the work was done right. I couldn't ask for more from any company then the honesty and quality work that I received. I do wish more companies cared this much about their customers and doing a job right."

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

While ceiling fans are built for regular use, running them continuously without breaks can lead to overheating and wear over time. If your fan has a thermal shutoff feature, it may stop running to protect the motor. To extend their lifespan, it’s best to turn fans off when they’re not needed.

You should generally avoid using WD-40 on a ceiling fan. While it might quiet a squeak temporarily, it is primarily an anti-corrosion and water displacement agent, not a true lubricant, and can damage the fan's components over time. Most modern ceiling fans have sealed bearings and do not require oiling, so a squeak may indicate another issue. For fans that do require lubrication, it is better to use a light machine oil, 30-weight motor oil, or a lubricant specifically designed for ceiling fans.

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.

Most people describe the sound of an unbalanced ceiling fan as a buzzing or grinding noise. This is caused by the parts of the fan rubbing or rattling against each other as the blades spin. However, a wobbling fan can also make squeaking, rattling, or thumping sounds, depending on the severity of the balance issue.

Your bathroom exhaust fan shouldn't be loud. However, bath fans come in a wide variety of models, price points, and loudness characteristics, and yours may be louder or quieter than others you notice. Economy models tend to be the noisiest, with levels of 4.0 sones or more, which is about the sound of an electric shaver, while some high-end models can be barely audible.
