"Very professional. Is extremely knowledgeable about all flooring types. We had vinyl plank flooring installed throughout our house with carpeting on our stairs. It is so beautiful!! Him and his crew worked wonders! When they pulled up the flooring we had they discovered a horrible floor beneath. They had to remove hundreds of nails and level the flooring before they could install the new vinyl plank. The toilet flange anchors to the subfloor, usually with wood screws or cement screws, but most of it should sit above floor level at full height. When a flange is flush with the subfloor or below it, it can lead to the creation of leak paths.

In most cases, carpeting isn’t kind to the wood that it’s attached to. Most carpet installation uses adhesive or nailing strips, both of which will damage wood. Conversely, you can choose to use an adhesive designed to be removed from wood, in which case carpeting can actually protect your hardwood stairs.

Whether or not transition pieces go under the baseboard depends on a few different factors. If the transitions are being installed with the flooring and before the baseboards, then they will go under the baseboards. If the baseboards are already installed, then it depends on whether or not you want to remove them or undercut them. If not, the transition pieces can butt up against the baseboard.

Door transitions can work with virtually any flooring type; however, different transition strips lend themselves better to specific flooring types. For instance, if you are bridging the gap between a taller floor, like carpet, to a shorter floor, like hardwood, then you will want a transition strip with a slight slope to bridge the height difference. These transition strips are called reducer molding. On the other hand, if you are bridging two floors of the same height, you can use flat transition strips, such as T-strips and seam binders.

Carpets in earthy, neutral shades should go with everything. Specifically, colors like beige, cream, and gray pair well with other neutrals and more vibrant colors. If you’re concerned about your carpet clashing with your walls or furniture, stay away from loud colors and complicated patterns, which could distract from the rest of your decor.
