"Nick and Frank were punctual, very neat, professional and super friendly. They did an outstanding job repairing/painting cracks and peeling paint on our vaulted ceiling and skylights. We will definitely use them again. ?"

"Mark and Nick were great! They did a thorough walkthrough both before and after and made sure everything we wanted done was done to our liking. They were very clear in communicating what their plan was and when they planned on doing the work. The work completed was top quality and I will be reaching out again if we need any more painting/staining/ finishing done. Would highly recommend their services."

"We hired Clean Cut Painting to update the interior surfaces of our business location, and the results were truly impressive. Their team demonstrated excellent craftsmanship and professionalism throughout the entire project. They carefully prepared all areas before starting and ensured every surface received a smooth, consistent finish. The painters worked efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized workspace, which allowed our business to continue operating with minimal disruption. The fresh new look has made a noticeable difference in the atmosphere of our building and has received many compliments from customers. I highly recommend Clean Cut Painting to any business seeking high-quality painting and staining services."

"James was outstanding and did everything he quoted and was on time for the quote, power washing and paint job. He was east to work with and even did more work than he quoted and save us from having to paint one wall ourselves. We did the lower part of the house and he did the upper parts, dormers and chimney. I only wish we had more painting needing to be done because I will be going back to him and in the future. I will definitely refer my family and friends to have James quite for their painting projects. A++++ in my book."

"The painting job went very well. Alejandro contacted us within a day of our request for estimates, came within a reasonable time to look at the job and quickly provided an estimate. He made good observations and asked good questions during his visit, told us what to expect and how he would address problems. He was punctual and communicated well throughout the week it took to complete the work and was consistently meticulous with prep and painting. He carefully moved and covered all furnishings and cleaned up after each day’s work. He is pleasant to work with and responsive to questions or suggestions. All around, a job well done that transformed our home!"

Painting questions, answered by experts

Your tool of choice ultimately comes down to personal preference. Many DIYers prefer applying stain with a lint-free rag, but others stick with a paint brush or a roller. Wipe the stain and work it into the wood, working with and against the grain. If you’re applying multiple coats, allow the stain to dry for around four hours between coats.

Maintain your wattle fence by inspecting it at least twice per year for loose weaving and degrading branches. Replace any seriously degraded sections, ensure water drains properly around the posts, and trim any sprouting branches if you used green wood. If you notice the weave loosening, you can often tighten it by gently pushing down on the top branches. You can also apply a natural wood preservative every two to three years to extend the fence's lifespan.

The number of coats you need to apply when whitewashing a surface depends on how opaque you want the final product to be. If you're going for a transparent, barely there look, a single coat or two may suffice. For fuller coverage, you'll want to use multiple coats. Another option is to use a less diluted paint to get a thicker coverage.

Choose based on climate, finish preference (glossy, matte), and durability. Tailored coatings also provide longevity.

While power washing isn't a requirement before you stain a fence, it can make the job much easier and faster while reducing manual labor requirements. The stain will not work if the wood is full of dirt and dust, so power washing, sometimes called pressure washing, is a fast and effective way to prepare the wood for staining. Remember that you need to stain or repaint relatively soon after the wood has dried so that there isn’t time for dust and dirt to build up again.
