"We hired Clean Cut Painting for a $20K job based on their quick quote and no deposit. While work started fast, the experience went downhill. There were surprise charges, and key items like door handles and outlet covers were removed but never reinstalled. Paint was left on floors, tile, and even on our carpet. When I brought up the carpet damage, Matt said, ?It needed to be replaced anyway??even though we had told him it wouldn?t be. Wall hardware and mirrors were removed with permission, but instead of being reinstalled, everything was tossed in the garage and mixed with trash. On the final Saturday, Matt worked briefly and left his crew to finish. I watched them rush cleanup the moment he left, leaving a mess. I later told Matt he should?ve told his crew he?d be back to inspect?it might?ve led to a better outcome. While I appreciated the fast start and no deposit, the lack of professionalism, poor finish, and dismissive responses mean I wouldn?t hire them again."

Because the bottom half of the door was exposed to extreme sun, that half would always peel making it diffiult to match the top half, so I decided to paint the entire door. When choosing paint for stucco, it's recommended to use a high-quality exterior paint specifically formulated for masonry or stucco surfaces. Look for paints labeled as "masonry paint," "stucco paint," or "concrete paint." These paints are designed to adhere well to stucco surfaces and provide durability and weather resistance. 

Opt for paints with good breathability to allow moisture to escape and prevent potential issues with trapped moisture. You may also want to consider paints with UV resistance to protect the stucco from fading or discoloration due to sun exposure.

Since you’ll be going back over an oil-based paint (stain or varnish), you need the proper material for good adhesion. Using an oil primer is critical to ensuring that the longevity of your work stands the test of time. You can apply any type of paint (oil or latex paint) on top of an oil primer after it has cured.

A combination of different things will give you the smoothest paint finish. Cleaning properly, sanding, using the right paint and paintbrush, straining the paint, and using select paint additives will all contribute to a smooth paint finish. If you’re not confident in your DIY ability, you can always hire a local interior painter to do the job for you.

Some caulk shrinks during the drying process, leading to cracked paint and a less-than-ideal appearance. Textured or older walls with years of wear can make matching trickier. Paint on these surfaces may catch the light differently or have faded unevenly. Try to match in a smoother, less worn spot (such as behind a door or piece of art). You may also want to paint a small test swatch and let it dry completely before deciding, as it may look significantly different once it has cured.
