"Installation was a professional job. Workers knew what they were doing, done when they said it was going to be done. Steve in the install manager kept me updated and did a post job inspection. Would recommend"

"Elon inspected my foundation to determine what walls were holding water. He took measurements and took time to share a video of the repair he was recommending. I will have four anchors installed on the problem wall at a very fair price."

"Todd was at the home early and had begun exterior inspection when we arrived. He pointed out several issues we would have never seen. He was professional, friendly, and thorough in his inspection. Report was detailed and easy to understand. Would definitely recommend."

Small jobs welcome

"I had questions about the foundation and structure of a home I was considering buying. Steve was able to quickly get me a time slot scheduled to do the inspection. While doing the walkthrough, he was very porfessional and kept a good, open dialogue about what he noticed as concerns and things that were positive. He did a great job of assessing and inspecting all of the areas I had a concern with and made sure to point out and make me aware of the things that I wasn't aware of. Between addressing concerns, he was able to give insight about how the issues should best be repaired. I would and will happily contact Steve again for future structural and inspection issues."

"This was a rehire of All-Ways. After having other quotes for our leaky basement, we again found that All-Ways was honest and more reasonably priced. They don't try to scare you into doing unnecessary repairs. Workers were friendly and respectful of our time and our home. Additionally, job required less work than initially thought and they actually lowered our end cost instead of trying to talk us into doing the higher unnecessary repair. In-house financing was provided with half due at completion and the other half a year to pay. I cannot say enough good things about James, Eric, and the rest of the workers. I hope I don't have more basement problems, but if I do, I'll definitely be calling them again. Thanks, guys!"

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

It can be safe to live in a house with asbestos as long as the asbestos-containing materials are intact, in good condition, and not disturbed. Asbestos becomes dangerous only when its fibers are released into the air, which happens if the material is damaged, crumbling, or disturbed during renovation work. If you suspect asbestos is present, do not disturb it. Instead of removal, materials in good condition can sometimes be encapsulated. It is recommended to have regular professional inspections to monitor the condition of the asbestos and prevent health risks from potential exposure.

Most chimney crowns cannot be seen from the street or yard. As a result, most homeowners are completely unaware that their damaged or deteriorating chimney crowns need repairs or replacements. Chimney inspections offered by contractors can verify any damage.

A visual inspection may or may not reveal ceiling joists. Examine the ceiling surface for clues like nails, screws, or small dimples used to attach drywall or plaster to the joists. Look for subtle indentations or ridges indicating a joist beneath the surface. Observe any patterns or symmetrical features in the ceiling that could indicate the presence of underlying structural elements.

Waiving a home inspection could be beneficial if you’re buying a home in a hot location where the seller has many other offers to consider, especially if other buyers are willing to waive the inspection. However, it’s not usually a good idea to waive an inspection, even on new construction. Inspections can identify problems that could cost thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars, so a formal inspection is always worthwhile. If you’re having a new home built, a pre-drywall inspection is often the most valuable, but a final inspection before you close is also a good idea.

There are no strict rules for who is responsible for covering repair costs after a home inspection, as the issue is highly negotiable, except in cases of mandatory repairs. Major issues discovered during the inspection often lead to a renegotiation. The buyer might ask the seller to make the repairs as a condition of the sale, but it is more common for the buyer to use the estimated repair costs as leverage to lower the asking price. The seller may agree to lower the price to compensate the buyer or agree to fix the issues before the sale is complete. However, in a competitive real estate market, a seller might refuse to cover any repairs, knowing that other buyers may be willing to purchase the property as-is.
