"Mike Williams did a great job! He took time in advance to explain issues he saw with my yard & what he was going to do and then showed me what was done to confirm. He was personable, thorough and I hope he is my Experigreen Guy for years to come!"

"Do not hire this company! This is the worst company and the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. I have a big problem with moss in my grass and they sold me a 6-treatment soil enrichment program to run over the course of the spring and summer, followed by aeration and overseeding between the end of August and early October.. Treatment 1 on April 25 was soil testing to help determine what my soil needed. I was told the results would be in within 2 weeks. However, I did not receive the soil sample results until the first week of September. I called them 7 times and sent 2 e-mails between early May thru the end of July to find out where my test results were. I was always told someone would look into it and they would get back to me. My calls were never returned and my e-mails went unanswered. By the time I finally received the results in September, it was too late to do the 6 soil treatments, and the soil/moss problems in my yard are much worse now. Lush Lawn did not do the job they said they would, my yard is worse, I reached out to them 9 times over the summer to get the soil treatments back on track and they did not deliver. Ironically, in spite of all the they still expect me to pay for the soil testing. They have been sending me notice after notice for weeks to demand payment for the soil test, $85. I do not believe Safari Tree can expect their customers to pay for the mistakes made by their employees. I would gladly have promptly paid for the test results if I had received them. I have spoken with their accounts people and have provided them with a written detailed timeline of my calls to them and the lack of response. They still expect payment. My next call will be to the Better Business Bureau."

Lawn Fertilization and Treatment questions, answered by experts

A lawn that suddenly and quickly turns yellow is typically the result of a dramatic change in the grass's environment. Heavy rainfall can dilute soil nutrients, rapidly yellowing the grass, and dull lawn mower blades can dry out and damage the grass in a short time. Over-fertilizing can yellow a lawn within a matter of days.

You should apply sulfur to your lawn in the spring or fall when it is below 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Aim for a day with little to no wind so you can apply it with precision. You can apply sulfur to an established lawn or mix it into the top 6 inches of soil on an unplanted area.

Before you put down grass seed, you should cultivate your soil or add two inches of topsoil. You should also put down fertilizer at the same time as your seed to prompt healthy growth. Be sure to water after you put down grass seed, especially for the first two weeks.

Both zoysia grass and bermuda grass are somewhat similar to St. Augustine because they’re all warm-season grasses. Beyond that, most grass types have unique properties that set them apart. Zoysia grass costs twice the price of St. Augustine grass on average and it has thinner blades and a deeper green appearance. Bermuda grass, compared to St. Augustine, has much thinner blades, is softer to the touch, and has a higher tolerance for colder weather.

Purchase a selective herbicide that targets clover and similar weeds but doesn't take out your grass. You can also keep it from growing with corn meal gluten or remove clover from your lawn manually at the start of the season as part of your lawn maintenance checklist.
