Small jobs welcome

"They did a really good job and they stand behind their work. The prices are competitive and they take pride in their work. I had a really old front door that was not insulated and they put in a new one with plenty of insulation. They also put in a new storm door and a garage side door that meant making a new doorway that's sealed properly. They answered all my questions and were respectful of the property"

"They were very prompt, I got an in person quote the same day I called, and they were out to start cleaning the deck the next day. The whole project was finished by the end of the week. The deck looks great! Friendly and polite with fair prices."

"John is a fabulous worker! We had him install a storm door last fall, and just had him rebuild doors for our wood-shed, as Well as ALL the other deteriorating trim. He did a wonderful job! Doors look amazing!! Trim work all done wonderfully too - we just need to paint it now. John is a reliable, and hard working handyman, with clear and detailed communication about the project. Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

There are a variety of second-story deck privacy ideas depending on your budget and aesthetic. For starters, you might consider fencing or tall privacy railing that masks a good portion of the open deck. A pergola or an awning can provide additional cover and shade. Outdoor curtains are an easy way to add or remove privacy at your convenience, plus they’re a wallet-friendly way to decorate your deck.

There are several methods for attaching stair stringers to a deck. The best way is to bolt the stringers to the deck joists using three carriage bolts in a triangular pattern. This method offers the sturdiest fit for stairs that won’t budge. Alternatively, attach the stringers to the deck rims using lag bolts or to the posts using adjustable slope hangers.

Yes, deck footings typically require an inspection before laying down concrete. While not all local building codes require footing inspection, proper placement ensures a safe and structurally sound deck. An inspector will verify that the deck can adequately hold what you put on top of it., and that the footings have been dug to the correct dimensions.

A quality, well-maintained PVC decking can last 30 to 50 years. It’s known for being one of the most durable types of decking materials, with composite decking having a 25- to 30-year average lifespan and some softwood deckings only lasting 10 to 15 years. Luxury hardwood decks like Ipe may last longer than PVC decking, but they can cost more and require more maintenance.

To maximize the utility of space under a deck, it’s important to keep this area dry and clean. One way to prevent the area from becoming too wet is to install an under-deck draining system. This affordable home upgrade channels water away from the deck and provides usable space for storage or a functional area below a second-story deck. Not only will this be a useful maintenance upgrade, it can boost your home’s property value.
