"I used Home Pro of West Michigan to remodel my master shower and I highly recommend them. They provided great service and their timeliness and organization was stellar. They communicated very well and provided efficient follow up when needed. Their installers were friendly, helpful, and took care of the project in a day and half. Efficient is a perfect word to sum up my experience."

Zach is truly a Master Plumber, in title AND action. We had no idea just how serious our issues were! Zach showed us how he would inspect, test, and resolve our plumbing problems. "Theyâ ve been great. Got a barrier free shower for my father and itâ s a very nice unit. My only wish - and itâ s hindsight being 20/20- is that they really explain and have hands on models for all the features particularly when doing accessibility related installs. My dad didnâ t quite get the need for the water barrier gasket and we switched out the shower head because he found it too heavy. Our installers were amazing and Iâ m thankful we had the guys we had."

"Everyone we dealt with was kind, friendly, and easy to work with. The inspector, Mark, was very good at explaining the process, and the technicians, Taron and DeShawn did a great job with the waterproofing and foundation repair."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

In most cases, yes, homeowners insurance will cover burst pipes, even if they run through your foundation. Not only that, but most home insurance companies will also cover any foundation repair you need done that resulted from the plumbing leak because your insurer will view the leak as an unforeseen and non-preventable issue.

Replacing a main water shut-off valve costs anywhere from $300 to $1,000, or more depending on your project’s specifications. You’ll need to replace the shut-off valve if the size of the pipe changes (as is common with trenchless replacement) or the material used in the new pipes isn’t compatible with the valve.

No. You should never directly drain a water softener into a sewer cleanout. This practice is illegal in many areas because it could allow raw sewage to get into your drinking water and make you seriously ill. Many places have codes requiring a specific seal, pipe, and a large air gap between a water softener and a sewage cleanout. Check out Florida's Plumbing Building Code as an example of what these restrictions might look like.

The cost to clean a sewer line is about $370, ranging from about $190 to $550 on average. The specific cleaning method and the problem's severity will impact the project's overall cost. Some of the most common sewer line cleaning methods include:

  • Snaking or rodding: $100–$250

  • Hydrojetting: $350–$600

  • Chemical treatments: $600–$1,000

  • Repair or replacement: $1,000–$7,500

If your pipes are suddenly making loud noises, it could be due to any of the aforementioned issues. A water hammer is a common cause of this problem. Other potential causes include water pressure issues, loose pipes, air bubbles, and worn-out fixtures. Mineral buildup in the pipes can also cause loud noises.
