"I used Home Pro of West Michigan to remodel my master shower and I highly recommend them. They provided great service and their timeliness and organization was stellar. They communicated very well and provided efficient follow up when needed. Their installers were friendly, helpful, and took care of the project in a day and half. Efficient is a perfect word to sum up my experience."

"We were in desperate need of a plumber to resolve some major septic tank and sewer line repairs due to clogs. Pines Plumbing was in incredibly effective and efficient. Zach is truly a Master Plumber, in title AND action. We had no idea just how serious our issues were! Zach showed us how he would inspect, test, and resolve our plumbing problems. "Theyâ ve been great. Got a barrier free shower for my father and itâ s a very nice unit. My only wish - and itâ s hindsight being 20/20- is that they really explain and have hands on models for all the features particularly when doing accessibility related installs. My dad didnâ t quite get the need for the water barrier gasket and we switched out the shower head because he found it too heavy. Our installers were amazing and Iâ m thankful we had the guys we had."

"Everyone we dealt with was kind, friendly, and easy to work with. The inspector, Mark, was very good at explaining the process, and the technicians, Taron and DeShawn did a great job with the waterproofing and foundation repair."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

The most common types of backflow preventer devices depend on the purpose of the installation. For example, Portland.gov states that the double-check valve assembly and the pressure vacuum breaker assembly are most commonly used in irrigation systems, while the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) states that double-check valve assembly and the reduced pressure zone assembly backflow preventers are best for fire protection systems.

Ask a plumber for recommendations on the best backflow preventer device for your home.

Yes, you can have a toilet without a septic tank. However, it will have to be a composting toilet. Composting toilets work similarly to aerobic septic systems in that the waste, which sits in a separate compartment below the toilet itself, is slowly broken down by aerobic bacteria. These toilets typically have a vent to get rid of harmful gasses with a fan, which requires a battery. You will have to dispose of waste in the toilet manually every three weeks to every three months, depending on how many people are using the toilet.

A burst pipe can cause hundreds or even thousands of dollars in damage. It could flood your home, which can destroy many of your belongings. It could also ruin hardwood floors and carpeting, requiring you to replace your flooring. Finally, mold and mildew form very quickly after high levels of moisture have been introduced to a space; this is not only costly to remove but also bad for your health.

Most of the time, the answer is yes, but with an enormous asterisk. While an increase in iron deposits isn’t likely to harm you if consumed, that doesn’t mean you should drink any brown water from your faucets. In our book, it’s better to be safe than sorry and opt for bottled until the issue is resolved.

In most cases, yes, homeowners insurance will cover burst pipes, even if they run through your foundation. Not only that, but most home insurance companies will also cover any foundation repair you need done that resulted from the plumbing leak because your insurer will view the leak as an unforeseen and non-preventable issue.
