"Not doing very well on the hardwood floors. They have streaks all over them when they dry. I told the cleaners about it but they acted like they weren't concerned. They also don't clean behind and under the furniture. I plan on calling their supervisor before they come again. They come every 4 weeks to clean."

"They are a busy crew and booked my job for about 5 weeks out from day of estimate. My floor had lots of small to medium separations between the pieces but they troweled in a filler that did away with nearly all of that and then sanded well with attention to keeping dust down with covers and a temporary plastic room barrier. I was torn between natural and a darker stain and Steve gave me his opinion that he felt natural was the better choice and I am so glad I went with that advice. Three coats of polyurethane followed the sanding and I am still enjoying the heck out of how it looks. They did extra work off adding floor transitions where oak met tile, but that made the initial estimate rise, but I remain totally satisfied."

Grout Tile Cleaners questions, answered by experts

If you are wondering how to get rid of mold in your shower or bathroom, substances like dish soap, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, and rubbing alcohol all can potentially do the job. You also could create a mixture of bleach and water to remove the mold, but be very careful never to mix bleach with other cleaning agents. Only mix bleach with water. Exposing bleach to other cleansers could cause a release of extremely dangerous chlorine gas.

Your schedule for deep cleaning will depend on how often you clean regularly and how dirty your home gets. If you clean weekly and keep things tidy, you may only need to deep clean once a year. But if you don’t keep up with regular cleaning or have pets that drag in mud and shed all over the house, you might need deep cleaning two or three times a year.

Steam mops can be a better option than traditional mops because the steam can lift stubborn dirt from floors without using chemicals, and it also kills bacteria and dust mites. However, steam mops have drawbacks: they are more expensive, require an electrical outlet, and are not suitable for all flooring types, such as laminate or hardwood, which can be damaged by the steam.

Regular mopping can also sanitize floors effectively when done with the right cleaning products and techniques, though it may require more effort. The main advantage of a traditional mop is its versatility, as it can be used on any type of flooring. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your floor type, budget, and cleaning preferences.

You can remove hard grout haze with vinegar or commercial grout dissolver. Follow the label instructions on commercial grout dissolvers to remove hard grout gaze. For DIY solutions, combine 1 cup of distilled white vinegar and 4 cups of water, apply it to the grout, and let it sit for about 10 minutes before wiping away the haze.

Yes, you can use household cleaners on silicone caulk, but opt for mild, non-abrasive cleaners. Solutions like vinegar and water are effective for tackling mold and dirt. Avoid cleaners containing ammonia or harsh chemicals because they can damage the caulk. Always test a small area first to ensure the cleaner doesn’t cause any adverse effects.
