"Bill and Dylan at A1 cleaned our air ducts. They were absolutely AMAZING! My home was built in 67' and I don't think they have ever been cleaned. 🫤 They both went above and beyond and even stayed longer than anticipated since they were so bad to ensure they looked great! My husband and I were so pleased with the results! The before and after pictures were incredible! They were both so very kind and very professional! I would recommend them to anyone needing their services!"

"They pretty much did an up and up nice job. We don’t have any problems with them. We had to have them comeback out because the furnace had stopped working. They came back out to look at that and they had not wired one of the wires back in completely and it came out. It had turned off the flow to our furnace so they came out and fixed it. They didn’t charge us anything. They gave us the ultimate apology. They admitted it. They told it should have been fixed when they came out to do the air conditioner so they apologized. The way they explain it, it sounds like I am getting a good deal. I don’t know if they are the most affordable option. Everything they did seem to be pretty solid. There are no leaks and everything looks clean, nice and efficient. Everything still works. They came out pretty quickly both times. They were always within 10 minutes when they said they were going to be there. The guy that we worked with was very honest. He took me through and showed me everything; prior to and afterwards. I didn’t feel like they were hiding anything. They really seemed like they were genuine in what they were doing. We have used them once before so we called them back again because we had used them once before."

"As female investor seeking to hiring contractors that are transparent and have high integrity. I hit the jackpot with MIDPOINT COOL TEMP. Robert is passionate and genuine in his assessment and recommends "options to repair" vs immediately replacing a unit. Provided him a key to the vacant home, he got the heating system functioning, cleaned his area, and updated us promptly. FIVE STAR SERVICE all around!!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

A window AC unit is not completely silent. You’ll hear the sound of air blowing, and if you put your ear right up next to the unit, you may hear a slight hiss or gurgle as the refrigerant flows through the system. That said, if your system is making a running water sound, a loud banging sound, a grinding sound, or physically vibrating, you may be facing an issue or malfunction with your AC unit.

The best time of year to purchase or replace an HVAC system, including components like an air conditioner or furnace, is during the off-season—spring and fall. During these periods, HVAC professionals are less busy than in summer and winter, when extreme temperatures create urgent demand. Shopping during the off-season can lead to savings of 10% to 15% on an AC unit and allows you more time to find the best deal and other cost-saving incentives. Typically, air conditioning units go on sale in the fall after demand drops, while furnace prices tend to decrease in the spring.

Most HVAC companies recommend against setting your AC below 70 as it could freeze up the system and cause more problems. Regardless of how hot it is outside, there is generally a 20 degree difference between the outside and inside temperatures, so even if it’s 100 degrees outside, your AC will likely not be able to cool your home to 70 degrees.

Modern AC leak sealants work as a temporary measure to stop refrigerant leaks. You can purchase them at most home improvement stores or on online. When using an AC leak sealant, keep in mind that it’s only a temporary solution, so you’ll still need to hire a pro to install a replacement part as soon as possible.

A damper motor can last up to 15 years, but it can wear out more quickly than that if you run your HVAC unit a lot. So you might expect a longer life in a colder climate than if you live in a warmer climate.
