As a leader in both adhesive and film technologies, 3M brings together these disciplines to create the finest products available for residential, commercial and government use. 3M™ Window Films provide an elegant, yet practical means for solving many of the most challenging aspects of managing sun control and security issues surrounding the use of your home or business. Our films reduce up to 99 percent of the sun's ultraviolet rays and reject up to 79 percent of the solar heat that may otherwise come through a window. They also help reduce winter heat loss by reflecting up to 35 percent of indoor heat back into the room. You will find our films are also easy on the eyes. On the outside, they give your home or business a more pleasing, unified look. Other interior benefits, our films provide glare reduction for you and your occupants. "I was on the market for a security system and this one seemed easy enough to install.......went through the process and some of the window sensors were not working. I called Customer Support who was very friendly and we went through the entire process again...this time other window sensors did not work. This went on for a week or so...then the door senors stopped working....than the motion sensor stopped working...at no time in over a month did I have a fully operational security system. As I was about to return the system I was told they have "new" sensors and they just realized they received a bad batch and are working with another company.....Gave it a try....and same issue returned....some sensors worked....some didn't. I finally returned the system and stopped getting emails.....only to find that they were still billing my credit card even after I returned the equipment. Very nice people and very understanding.....unfortunately their product is not up to par. While we do have a large home, it's an open concept and the sensors that weren't working were no more than 15ft away from the base. The previous owners of my house had a wireless system with no issues at all.....I'm going to be using that company going forward."

Hurricane Film questions, answered by experts

High winds can be harmful to casement windows and all types of windows. Because casement windows can swing outward, high winds could slam the window against the side of the house, bend the hinges, or even rip the window off of the hinges. If you hear some strong gusts outside, it’s best to pull the casement windows shut until it all blows over.

In general, hailstones need to be at least one inch in diameter to cause damage to a roof. Smaller hailstones can also cause damage, but usually only if accompanied by strong winds or striking aging roofs in poor condition. Obviously, the larger the hail, the more potential for damage.

A hurricane can take down a house, but most well-built modern homes can withstand an average hurricane. Houses are more likely to fail during strong hurricanes and if they’re older, poorly built, or already have structural problems. Strong winds can blow off weak points like the roof and windows, giving the hurricane winds an opening to do more damage. Walls may also collapse under the force of high winds and pressure.

Yes, but it depends on what you have planted in yours and the extent of the damage. Hardier shrubs and plants with droopy leaves have a better chance of bouncing back, but do go ahead and cut back any broken branches or damaged portions. Fertilizer can help, but wait until you spot new growth before you feed any plants.

Yes, most standard policies include storm damage repairs. Your policy may cover some or all of the repairs. The first thing to do after a storm is contact your home insurance agent. If you get any work done before the adjuster arrives, such as covering holes in your roof or windows, keep those receipts for reimbursement.
