"Who knew how entertaining and informative having a water heater installed could be. After several snaffus and a comedy of errors through no fault of his own, Micah with great determination installed a new water heater. He showed me what he was doing each step of the way and explained why he was doing it. Very professional job. He cleaned everything up when he was finished and hauled away the old water heater. It's refreshing to have such professional, caring contractors do the work because they genuinely care and want to do a good job. I have already told several people about my positive experience and they were very impressed."

"The yearly service works out to be $50 a month. We've had two water heaters replaced through them because of a fault in them. They're usually very responsive. I like that I can request the service online. The only thing is, I wish that there was a better avenue for emergency services. If something doesn't work right away usually it takes a couple of days to get someone out and sometimes you can't wait two days without water."

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

Flushing biannually, checking the anode rod, and temperature settings maximize equipment lifespan while reducing surprise costs.

Tankless water heaters are more expensive than those with a storage tank, but they come with some impressive benefits that most homeowners find worth the higher investment. Most importantly, they provide unlimited hot water, so you’ll never run out like you would with a storage tank. Tankless heaters are also more efficient, so comparing gallon-for-gallon, you’ll spend less on hot water with a tankless heater. Tankless water heaters are also smaller, require less maintenance, and tend to last longer than storage tank water heaters.

Electric water heaters typically last 10 to 20 years, though proper maintenance can extend their lifespan. If your unit is over a decade old and showing signs of inefficiency—such as higher energy bills, frequent repairs, or leaks—replacement is a smart investment. Tankless models last over 20 years, which can make them a longer-lasting alternative to traditional tank water heaters.

Often, the first issue you might encounter is a lack or loss of power—this could be caused by a tripped switch or a failed heating element. If your hot water is not producing enough power and its size is not the issue, you might need to replace one of its heating elements. A leaking water heater could be caused by tank erosion.

Storage, tankless, heat pumps, and solar water heaters each suit specific space constraints, usage needs, and efficiency preferences.
