"No other contractors I called were willing to take on the job, we needed a new roof and news ceilings throughout our home due to water damage. Roland of Redneck's Kustom Remodeling answered all of my calls and worked with us throughout the process to keep the cost low but results great. The house looks so nice now and feels way more structurally sound!"

"The crew that came out was very professional and cleaned up after themselves. They only tore off a portion of the roof that could be replaced that day so we didn't have to worry about tarps. It took a few days but they were very careful and considerate of the house and landscaping. We had some issues with the roof looking like it was buckling in places and the owner was quick to come out and check it out. He said the shingles needed to settle in and heat up good before they will lay completely flat, I was skeptical about that answer but he said if they don't lay flat then they will tear it off and do it again. Sure enough, they did lay flat by the end of summer and everything looks fine now.

"Roland did an excellent job on my garage. He provided an accurate estimate with a fair price and the job was done well. He also stuck to the appointed dates on which he said the job would get done. Highly recommend it! Honest and fair."

"They were great.  The guy who came out to give me the estimate gave me a lot of tips on what to do with the baseboards and window frames and he was great.  The painters came out, they were time, they were neat, got the job done and I would definitely use them again."

"I recently started inquiring about getting a new roof installed. I met with each company but one really stuck out while trying to pick the contractor to install the most important part of my home. Storm Maters' Kerry Klein arrived on time, actually started to inspect the roof before I got there. Once I did get to the house, Kerry was actually measuring the entire roof; first contractor to do that. Once he was done on the roof, approximately 30 minutes, I had the pleasure of speaking to him about some of my concerns. The entire quote took about an hour and a half but my concerns became his. He offered many solutions, he's extremely knowledgeable and very, very thorough. He climbed every inch of my attic inspecting it as he went to ensure he didn't miss anything. He delivered the quote, along with product and warranty information, the very next day in a professional package. I would highly recommend giving Kerry an opportunity to inspect your property and give you a quote. Whether or not you decide to use Storm Master, you'll definitely know where you stand with your roof's condition when Kerry's done! Sincerely, Todd Ostrowski"

"This was a first time excavation project for me. Duane and I worked back and forth with texts. He made a visit to the site and gave me day. Day of was as described and things looked great when he was done. I asked him to come back to do more and within two weeks everything was accomplished and it looks great. Thanks guys."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Common pitfalls include underestimating the cost of site preparation, overlooking permit and utility fees, and not setting aside funds for unexpected changes. Change orders during construction can disrupt your budget. It’s best to plan a detailed budget, obtain multiple quotes, and include a 10% to 15% contingency fund for unexpected expenses.

Whether a prefab home is worth it or not will depend on your personal needs and preferences. Overall, prefab homes tend to cost less than traditional homes, although they also tend to have lower resale values. Another thing to consider is that prefab homes usually last 50 to 60 years or longer, while traditional homes last 50 to 100 years or more.

This answer varies based on where you are, but most states require that all homes are greater than 320 square feet. Remember that four walls are not the only requirements—windows, closet space, minimal ceiling heights, and indoor air quality are also factors. Each state and municipality differs, though, and as some don’t consider tiny homes permanent shelters, you’ll need to check to ensure you aren’t violating any local or state laws with your build.

While building a treehouse isn’t necessarily a death sentence, damaging the trunk is one of the ways to kill a tree. If you’re concerned about the tree, opt for a treehouse support system rather than attaching it directly to the trunk. This may involve using bolts and brackets to affix the structure to the tree's branches or establishing a standalone support system that remains unattached to the tree.

The best lumber for building will be the strongest and most eco-friendly wood your budget allows. That being said, Douglas fir, pine, oak, and maple are all common building materials. Contractors will use a strong, inexpensive wood to frame a house or other structure and finer woods like mahogany for detail work.
