"Matt and his crew handled a whole slew of projects around the home I just purchased like water damage repair, new flooring, structural repair, and some electrical work. His crew was friendly, explained things well, was respectful of the house and cleaned everything up. Absolutely deserves 5 stars and I would recommend Matt to anyone!"

"I had a new roof put on last Fall by StormMaster. Andy was a great salesman and I guess
I wanted to believe him when he said they would do a good job and I wouldn't have to put another roof on in my lifetime. And if there were ANY problems they would take care of it.
I felt like their reputation was important to them. We asked them if they could do it before we left for Florida, that we wanted to be here when they worked on it. They did it while we were gone.
(Left both our gates open when they were done.) When I went to get my shovels down out of storage I noticed shingle grit all over the shelf. I looked up and there was a narrow hole in the plywood and on closer inspection a 14 inch area around it that was soft and mushy. Why didn't they replace this area? We told them to replace any plywood. Had we been home we would have told them to absolutely replace it. We called Andy, he came and looked at it. Took pictures and said Gene would call us. He didn't. I was very disappointed that Gene did not come and want to see for himself, to check up on his foreman Cory's judgement and make things right for us. Our home is a simple one story ranch. So the only explanation we can come up with is they were in a rush. For weather? Or, its just a garage and we hope the customer won't even notice?

So I guess if you want a "good enough" job....hire them. I didn't pay for the "quick job" I paid the Platinum estimate of the three they gave us because we appreciate good work and want things done right the FIRST time. Lesson learned. In hindsight I would have put in writing "do not do the job when I am gone". And I should have checked their work thoroughly before paying the balance.
Another lesson learned is that neither Gene or Andy were on the job site. So whatever promises they made were irrelevant, apparently. So be present when the work is done and go up on the roof and check the plywood yourself. At this point I would not be able to recommend them to family or neighbors. We did do about twenty drivebys of homes they had done. We stopped at four to ask if they would recommend. Three would not answer their doors and the fourth had just bought the house. We should have done more homework. We should have joined Angie's List.
From what I'm reading now on Angie's list it appears your are treated differently If you live in better neighborhoods. We paid our bill on time and in full. I don't appreciate that kind of judgement, that I didn't deserve a quality job. My mother taught me to do a job right the first time. That's what I tried to do so I wouldn't be put in this awkward position. I was hoping for a good experience that would further motivate me to hire more work done, like a kitchen remodel.

We asked Andy what was going to happen when an inspector went thru the house when we are ready to sell for retirement. He didn't have an answer, but told me not to worry about this it would be taken care of, so far no options for making things right have been offered.

"The toilet needed to be replaced. I was told that I would only get the builder standard grade toilet even though I was signed up with the highest plan. The plumber was replaced my toilet with something that was definitely builder grade and not even close to what I had. I called CHOICE and they told me that it should have been replaced with something comparable to what I had. Twice they told me they were going to have my claim looked at and I have not received a call about it or any new information. The new toilet is wrong in size and specs and doesn't fit well where it is in the bathroom."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Your chicken coop needs to be off the ground to protect your chickens and avoid problems brought on by flooding, mud, and moisture. If you can't locate a high area to build the coop, you should build an elevated coop to ensure it stays dry.

Trex is not stronger than wood, but it lasts longer than wood and is heavier. Trex holds up well to the elements and is resistant to termites thanks to its resilient composition of plastic, reclaimed wood, and sawdust. Trex decking is rot and warp-resistant, making it especially useful in areas that experience a lot of snow and rain.

Rustic and modern farmhouse styles are currently the most popular. These include rustic and antique furniture, muted colors, clean lines, eclectic decor, and natural materials. Some other popular farmhouse styles include the following:

  • Coastal farmhouse: Creates a lighter, airier feel with soft colors and blue palettes, along with gold

  • Colonial farmhouse: Focuses on real antique furniture and decor

  • French farmhouse: Leans on French country architecture and design by including marble and lighter-colored metals, like zinc

  • Industrial farmhouse: Includes thick, chunky furniture and dark metals

  • Scandinavian farmhouse: Usually includes lighter wood colors and more refined furniture

Rather than using a common two-by-four piece of wood for a rafter, you probably will use two-by-six, two-by-eight, two-by-ten, or even two-by-twelve boards. Wider lumber is typically a better choice in a larger building as it provides more sturdiness. Some installers may use wider lumber for rafters near the edges of the roof, where the greatest stress occurs, and save money with narrower lumber toward the middle.

Building a tiny house is the least complicated way to build, especially if you’re tackling the project as a DIY. The smaller size means less complex plans, more straightforward utility installation, and fewer ways to make costly errors. Tiny homes still need to conform to building codes and often have other applicable regulations, so be sure to get the proper permits and confirm your build is by the book.
