"Absolutely fantastic! EVERYONE in the family was more than pleased. Mike explained the process, costs and risks. He COMES TO YOU AT NO EXTRA FEE!! He quickly responded to our request and called back quickly. We explained the need for a family conference and when we decided to use him, he was at the house within an hour. He was polite, courteous, knowledgeable, quick and neat. Local Lock Smith is our recommendation. The first locksmith ( not from Angi) was useless!! Go with Angi and Mike from Local Lock Smith I!!"

"Jordan is responsive, respectful, and reliable. He helped in an emergency situation without talking down to me or rushing me through the process. He was patient when emotions were running high and didn't overcharge. Hopefully that kind of emergency won't happen again but I'd high him/his company in a heartbeat. I highly recommend!"

"5 stars is not enough to indicate the professional service and response time of MJ Locksmith Service. MJ arrived on time as promised, was able to fit my emergency in on the Friday before a long weekend (all 3 locks!) and the price was less than any other locksmith in the area! MJ was not only the consummate professional, he was also personable, kind, efficient, tidy in the work space and his work was top notch! I will definitely be using him again."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Rekeying should be done when employees leave or keys are lost, while replacement may be necessary for outdated or damaged locks.

Begin by checking the power source, typically a battery or wired connection. Ensure the battery is installed correctly, has sufficient charge, and isn't corroded. If it's a wired lock, examine the electrical connections to confirm they are secure and free from damage. Additionally, inspect the lock's programming or settings. Confirm that user codes or access credentials are programmed correctly and that any remote control devices are paired and functional.

As with any computer, smart locks can be hacked by someone with the technical skills to do so, but most people do not have that ability, making smart locks relatively safe. If you have any concerns about a compromised smart lock, opt for an encrypted smart lock, change your Wi-Fi password, and make sure that you only give out your password to trusted family and friends.

Yes, locksmiths can design and install master key systems that grant different levels of access to various employees while maintaining overall security.

Whether or not keyless door locks are safe and trustworthy depends on the visibility of the programming code—and a trespasser’s determination. Even if you carefully guard entry and programming codes, those trying to break in may be able to crack open the lock’s faceplate with a screwdriver and change the codes. The same goes for manual models.

Some find smart locks the safest option because it’s harder to manipulate codes without access to your phone. But it’s possible to get hacked even then. Consider installing an extended security system, like door and window alarms or surveillance cameras, to enhance security.
