Integrated solar energy solutions: photovoltaic, solar-thermal, battery storage and heat pumps. We are not tied to any specific PV manufacturer and will source the best solution for your location and situation. Solar energy is no longer idealists' domain - it makes solid financial sense. Contrary to popular perception, year-round self-sufficiency can be reasonably achieved in the Midwest. We have close relationships to vendors of weekly and seasonal energy storage systems which will keep lights and heat on year-round.

Hey y’all! I’m back in town! I’ve spent the last ten years down south in Jacksonville, NC. I originally started my trade in the United States Marine Corps. During my seven years as a US Marine I was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 26 aboard MCAS New River in Jacksonville, NC. My responsibilities were the upkeep and maintenance of the mobile facilities where the Avionics Technician Marines worked. After finishing my service, I focused my attention on continuing to perform services in my area of expertise, which included keeping folks comfortable. I can assure you that I know first-hand about wanting to be comfortable from living in the south. There is no heat like southern heat. In September of 2018, amid the chaos and turmoil of Hurricane Florence, my family and I were forced to relocate back to Kentwood, Michigan. Through my years in this industry I have seen the financial toll it takes to be comfortable in your own home. I have worked for companies, spending countless hours in a service truck to ensure others are comfortable at a great price. Offering top quality service to repair and replace based on the “company guidebook price book.” Comfort shouldn’t cost you everything and that is what I am here to do. I have a skill that I am an expert at and a service that I love to provide. I will provide you with excellent heating and/or air conditioning service. My goal is to serve my local community with a comfort system that you not only desire, but at a price you can afford.

"Southern Comfort Heating and Cooling did an awesome job helping on 2 different projects. The first project was helping with my heater, installing a factory recall. They were efficient with the job and communication was great. The second job was a water heater replacement. Again with this project communication was great throughout the project. They made the replacement quick and easy. They are easy to work with and do great work. I highly recommend Southern Heating and Cooling."

At Peak we will always strive for 5 star service by surpassing the standard service for our clients and community; by providing you with our NATE Certified Technicians and a cost-effective maintenance plan for both your heating and cooling equipment.

"So let’s start with the fact that they quoted us a 3-5 day installment… it was over SIX WEEKS! When they came for a quote we told them the biggest reason we are switching to forced air heat is to get heat on the level that you walk into the house because our daughter’s room is down there and it’s the coldest area in the house, they said it wouldn’t be a problem. After they got the furnace in they informed us that they might have to take some of the ceiling tiles down in the basement for the duct work we said that’s fine no problem and asked if they needed us to do it, they said no they will handle it. They showed up for a few hours every day but not much got accomplished. Then they took down the ceiling tiles and when I say “took down” you would think they took them down and set them in a pile nicely right? Nope! They literally ripped them off the ceiling and dropped them on all our things! Couches we had down there everything! They left the biggest mess I had ever seen! In our daughter’s room she had muddy foot prints on her white comforter, they spilled her trash and stepped on it, and she had saw dust and insulation on and in her bed! They didn’t order the parts they needed until they needed it so there was another couple weeks. Then they said they were putting the house on a 2 zone system which is great, but I said if they do that and put the lower level with the highest level floor wouldn’t that be bad because the upper level is really hot and the lower level is really cold they said that’s not how it would go and the two lower levels would be on the same zone and the highest level would be by itself. Well after MONTHS of not being able to figure out why our daughters room was still cold we called them and said that we need to get it inspected and they have one chance to fix the stuff (the registers wouldn’t fit in the holes they cut, the ones that did fit the duck work fell out because they cut them wrong, daughters room still freezing etc.) so they come over and the tech was super nice and couldn’t believe the work they did and didn’t do! Ended up putting a damper in for the heat on the lower level and highest level. We still don’t know how that will work in the summer when we need air upstairs and not downstairs! So they came and “fixed” that. Then they reached out to my fiancé and told him that it was our fault that the ceiling tiles were like that because it not their job to do demo to put the duct work in … even though they never told us in advance to do it and after we offered to do it and they said no! The electrician came and told us that they would be back to clean up the mess because that’s unacceptable, weeks later however we just paid for a dump truck and did it ourselves! We will see if this even passes the inspection but if it doesn’t I don’t even want them back here to destroy other things! Look at the pictures and you can decide for yourselves but I wish I never called them it was a horrible experience lots of work and frustration on our part! Hire at your own risk!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You can run an HRV with air conditioning—assuming that you decide to keep the system on during the summer. The HRV will continue to bring in fresh outdoor air, which will then flow into your AC unit and cool down your home. It will also keep moving the stuffy indoor air out of your house.

If your drain line is clogged, your AC might stop cooling, shut down, or refuse to turn on at all. Otherwise, you might see your AC leaking water, find standing water or water damage near the unit, or notice a musty smell coming out of your air conditioner or vents.

You should only run your dehumidifier in warmer months, such as spring and summer, to get the best performance out of your system. The air gets drier when temperatures drop in the winter months, creating less of a need for a dehumidifier. However, when to run a dehumidifier will depend on your local climate.

Yes, it's normal for air conditioners to leak tiny amounts of water due to condensation. Under normal circumstances, all excess moisture travels to the drain pan to be pumped through your system's drain line. You should call a technician to diagnose the issue if you're noticing frequent leaking or pooling. It's also important to investigate if your homeowners insurance can cover water damage.

Most HVAC companies charge a flat service call fee of between $75 and $150, which includes traveling to your home and inspecting your system to find the underlying problem. Keep in mind that these prices only include diagnostics and the actual repairs will usually be billed separately. If you’re calling for routine service, the service call will be included in your inspection and tune-up, with the total sitting around $150. Your prices could be a little higher if you have a very large home with multiple condensers and air handlers, as inspections and servicing take longer.
