"WB Lightning Rods did an excellent job installing lightening rods on our home. The owner stayed onsite the entire time to supervise the work. He took extra care to plan the rod and cable placement to ensure the proper protection and retain the aesthetics of our home. His crew were knowledgeable, polite, neat and efficient. We could not be more pleased with the results."

"I actually ended up doing the installation myself b/c I ended up with more time than I thought I would have before the new year. However, Wescott Electric was very prompt, and professional in their response to my request for a quote. I will definitely call Wescott Electric in the future for any project I need help with."

Emergency services offered

"Everything went wonderfully with this company.  They were very professional, listened to exactly what my problem was, and explained to me how they were going to diagnose the problem and/or solve it before doing any actual work.  Once they started, the team (three people came) worked together like a well-oiled machine.  One was in the room with diagnostics, one was at the fuse box looking for possible problems there, and the third went into the crawlspace beneath our house to look at the physical wiring.  Once the problem was found (there was a faulty wire beneath the house that had come loose from the junction box), it was fixed and tested within minutes and another full diagnostic was done to make sure there were no other possible issues.  They cleaned up after themselves very neatly.  They also replaced the light switch with a dimmer switch at no extra cost!  Well within my budget, and came in even lower than their original (FREE) estimate!  I would highly recommend this company to anyone in the Bergen County area.

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Electrical projects in Rangeley may involve hidden expenses such as extra labor for trenching through rocky terrain and increased fees for winter installations. Remote locations can lead to higher travel and delivery charges. Older homes might require electrical panel upgrades to meet current codes, and unique grounding solutions may be necessary due to local soil conditions. Emergency access or storm-related service can also add to the overall project complexity.

Helpful?

In Rangeley, homeowners often misjudge the electrical panel capacity needed for heating systems, leading to overloaded circuits. Skipping proper outdoor wiring protection exposes systems to freeze-thaw damage. Neglecting to insulate around electrical penetrations can cause heat loss and ice dams. Attempting DIY work without required permits or installing generators incorrectly can create safety risks and violate local electrical codes.

Helpful?

Electrical maintenance in Rangeley should address the area’s harsh climate. Winter requires regular generator testing, clearing snow from outdoor electrical panels, and monitoring for ice on wiring. In spring, inspect for water intrusion and post-winter damage, especially in basements. Summer is ideal for checking dock wiring and outdoor outlets, while fall is best for prepping heating systems and weatherproofing. Annual professional inspections are strongly recommended.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Rangeley, choose THWN-2 copper wire for its durability in cold, damp conditions. Opt for weatherproof electrical boxes and outdoor-rated electrical panels to handle snow and ice. Cold-resistant PVC or metal conduit is ideal for underground or exposed wiring. Always use arc-fault and ground-fault circuit interrupters, and consider surge protectors to safeguard against power fluctuations common during Rangeley’s winter storms.

Helpful?

Establishing a seasonal inspection routine in Rangeley starts with checking for winter damage each spring, such as inspecting outdoor wiring and testing GFCIs after snowmelt. As summer arrives, shift focus to dock and outdoor electrical systems, surge protectors, and exterior lighting. In fall, test generators and prepare heating connections. During winter, monitor for ice buildup, keep panels accessible, and watch for overloaded circuits during cold snaps.
